It's not surprising or shocking to me anymore, but I hope for those that see it they think twice about any affection, admiration, etc. they may have for him or people like him.

AOC and others like Kamala in the past and many more literally just ask YES or NO questions. You can elaborate on your answer after you say yes or no. But the fact that most answers start with “well.....congresswoman”

I'm sorry but answers to questions aren't always simple as YES or NO. For example, the question about whether Facebook fact checks ads. Facebook employs an independent fact checking agency to fact check its ads. Therefore, the answer to the question isn't a simple yes or a no because Facebook itself doesn't fact check the ads but it employs a company to do so. He tries to explain that but all they want is YES or NO simply to please their constituents that they're being hard on the big bad wolf that is Mark Zuckerberg and tech. 

On ANOTHER ponint, do you really think if he answered a simple yes or no, they would allow him to elaborate?

Answers to questions where they end the question by asking “...yes or no” are literally simple yes or no questions. He’s testifying in front of Congress for the sole purpose of Representative and Senators asking him several questions in the small time they’re allotted. The time allotted is mostly for questioning which is why she and other congresspeople are nice enough to present questions in the yes or no format.

Anyways, I don’t know what possibility is worse after that disastrous performance by Zuckerberg, the possibility that you’re defending him or the fact that you don’t like AOC so just trying to paint her in a negative light when she’s just doing her job.

That's the problem. They can't expect answers to Yes or No questions if the answers are more complicated. They asked him "yes or no" to the fact checking one and as I pointed out that's not a yes or no question. People tried to make fun of him for saying "yes" to the question about whether facebook fact checks and then saying "well facebook doesn't actually factcheck" is the perfect example of this. It's not a yes or no question same way other questions are not yes or no. 

Regarding time, it is their jobs to get information out of him but not if that information isn't telling the whole story. The way politicians question is with politics and political outcomes in mind. They have no interest really in getting information from him to the general public. Things as complicated as the role of technology in democracy, politics, free speech, the market etc cannot be simply put with yes or no questions. The public was watching, he deserved every right to elaborate as much as possible.

I am in no way defending Mark. I am actually a big fan of AOC. I'm very happy that a young person who actually understands the dynamics of tech is on this committee and in congress. She's an inspiration to everyone fighting grassroots campaigns. I may have issues with her policy and stances but I support her! 

I simply pointed out that politicians tend to ask certain questions to please their constituents and that's not "their job". Their job is to present all the information to the public as possible. Cutting him off, shouting down on him or asking him leading and biased questions isn't the way to do that. The fact that you're applauding AOC and others for how they question is indicative that AOC (and the others) did their jobs in making sure that their constituents (and the people who support them) remain pleased and that will obviously translate to the ballot on their next elections.

We already have a bunch of crypto currencies and wallets, so I think he is late to the party.  Peg it to a gold standard. Some people actually want that, a currency pegged to gold held in a vault. 

I don't like that he is a CEO that can't be fired, because he owns facebook stock that includes multiple votes per share.  I don't trust a new international currency to a corporate dictator. He didn't provide a satisfactory answer to how much control facebook has over Libra, which he tried to claim was separate. 

Valid points made are that this  service would be used for illegal activity payments, including child trafficking, drugs, etc. It would eventually limit the effectiveness of the federal reserve to manage money supply.  So many regulations exist for consumer protections against fraud and theft with the current banking and credit card systems. That's just very complicated to replace all of that regulation with a new digital currency that needs new regulation.  

Credit cards currently will automatically do foreign exchange for each purchase, for a large fee. It's really all about facebook getting into a position where they can collect fees and compete with Visa and Mastercard, imo. I could be wrong, I don't know that much about Libra, but I did watch his testimony.

He wants the Libra company based in Switzerland, so the US government can't get access to see any of it. Yet he wants US regulators to bless it.   

He eventually said that they hire a third party to fact check ads. But not political ads. Really? Then don't allow political ads on facebook, is my opinion, unless free fact check ads are run if the ad is challenged as a lie. Based on the last election, lies are everything with some candidates.
