Didn’t the same thing happen to Gaga with Def Jam?

Not quite. Def Jam actually signed Gaga for a period of time, then they dropped her after she refused to comply with what they wanted (like extreme control over her artistry, taking her songs and giving them to other artists, and extreme autotune on Gaga's voice ect...)

It’s kinda awesome that they are willing to admit mistakes - but sometimes it’s hard to know if an artist will truly become big or not. When ari’s first single game out - I only thought of her as a niche artist... but look what happened!

WHY ARE THEY RESPONDING IN ALL CAPS

Anyways good thing she isnt with them, who knows if they would have let her release an album (which seems to be an issue with a lot of their artists lol)

I mean Ari was a completely different person back then. Both in appearance and vocals. It's not their fault that she evolved to fit the niche mold that has boosted her to where she is now.

Well we don't know those things for sure but that's likely what happened. They didn't like her artistry and didn't allow her to do what she wanted.

According to the CEO of Def Jam, she brought a CD of demos in 3 months to him and he didn't like it. It had Beautiful, Dirty, Rich on it (among a few other Fusari songs). No Poker Face, JD, TF, BBB though, that happened at Interscope.

what’s funny is that now they are signing almost anyone who pops off on social media :toofunny: and no they don’t make good music.

... and passing on Ariana who can clearly sing and had a huge teen following.

But I guess it's all for the better.
