Renie 7,909
My mom is recovering from breast cancer right now! It’s scary and sad but thankfully she received a good prognosis! My thoughts are with him and his family. Hopefully they caught it early. My mom didn’t get tested for it, even though docs wanted her to, but if she carried the brca gene, it could mean all the males and females in our family could be susceptible to it. It’s pretty scary to think about. But if there is a strong family history it wouldn’t hurt getting tested to know. Better safe than sorry.

I just had a mammogram today (I'm high-risk because of my paternal grandma) and am in the clear (I get results right away because I do a special 3-D mammogram & ultrasound), but each time, I hold my breath in fear while anticipating the results. I'm glad your mom has a good prognosis, and hopefully a strong support system too. She/Her/Hers

And I hope you recover quickly from your sprain and surgery!!!

It made me realize how much I take my mobility for granted. And I agree that being proactive is better than hiding one's head in the sand, as scary as it can be. I continue to have faith that medicine will continue to make great achievements in our lifetimes. She/Her/Hers

Men have less breast tissue and also has to do with hormones and what not but if some tissue exists then cancer is possible i knew a girl in portugal who got cancer on her toe. Its weird and rare but u can get it anywhere Terry Fox got it on his leg it doesnt always have to be the common ones which are: lung cancer, colon cancer, stomach cancer, skin cancer, blood cancer (leukaemia), pancreatic cancer, brain cancer, liver cancer, kidney cancer... and for males prostate cancer and for females breast cancer those i mentioned are like 95% or more of cancers but sometimes more unusual rare cancers can occur, like male breast cancer, or like the girl with toe cancer
