"You have stolen my childhood and my dreams"....

Omg you're 16 yo. Relax.

What I hate is this absolute overexaggeration.

Climate change CAN be a problem, we must NOT ignore the risks, but saying that a "mass extinction" is gonna happen is pure scifi.

She acts like a responsible person, while every leaders are just playing with numbers and hide behind double talk until global race for growth and capitalism kill us all. She is overexposed for sure and we can think that endangered autochtones communities, for exemple, should have a voice.

We are litterally living the 6th mass extinction of our planet history, it's all over scientific press since years. Just read.

Not to mention she provides no solution.

In a matter of fact she has done that repeatedly, even though she is only 16.

1. politicians/adults with power - listen to scientific community.

2. ordinary people/commoners - use your democratic power: vote and use power in numbers: climate strikes.

And I sincerely apologize on behalf of my generation (born 50's - 60's) that we did not take action when we had a chance.

Rumi said it, and Jane Austen too.

Exactly. Not to mention she provides no solution. It was nothing but an emotional, entitled rant. She probably lives a much more privileged life than many other people in the world. And also, why did she mention nothing about China, one of the worlds leading polluters?

The ignorance. I- :flop:

You think it should be a 16 year old's job to solve these issues? She doesn't know how to fix it, that's why shes asking the world leaders to do something cause she can't

thank u, next

China didn't even ratify the last climate changes agreements. She was talking about signatories countries who didn't respect their goals.

This comes across as severly uneducated.... there is actual evidence and a general consensus  that were in the midst of a mass extinction and there is no denying that. It's not an overexaggeration, all her statements thus far have been backed by credited and renowned scientists and researchers that have been in the field for decades.

Ignoring the best knowledge on subjects like climate change, abuse of resources, ecological cycles and feedback loops available to us is just plain stupid. And the last 3 years have shown that climate change and loss of our ecosystems are in full swing.  With heatwaves all over the world, dying reefs, loss of insect populations vital for crops and nature, loss of countless mammal, bird and fish species, loss of ecological habitats that are vital for carbon cycles and vital against desertification. I think a lot of people have their heads stuck up in their asses, not wanting to see the critical condition.

Refusing to see the issues, will make you even more unprepared for the consequences to our actions.

Tackling countries like China and the U.S. is very different as opposed to tackling ones like Germany and France. It is better to start smaller and work you way up than starting with biting off more than you can chew.

Of course I would wake up to work with of a bunch of triggered replies 🤣.

No, I don’t expect a 16 year old to have all the answers. But I do expect her to provide possible ways to combat climate change and showcase that she actually knows what she’s talking about. Because to me it came across as a kid acting overly emotional and entitled because she perceived HER life as “ruined”. That’s laughable. How many people lose their families, are raped, are homeless, amongst other atrocities, but her life is ruined over a changing climate that isn’t even at its worst and life is very much still normal for the rest of us?

Additionally, that fact that many of you either ignore or disregard China altogether is the problem. How does one get up and speak for climate change, yet doesn’t address the number one polluter in the world? Yes, she was addressing the UN. However, again, what good does a tantrum do if you’re not citing specific sources and talking factually about what is causing this and who is excessively contributing to it.

I don’t see how any of my points aren’t valid. And it’s clear that many of you don’t care for other’s opinions. You just want to be surrounded by your own virtue signaling, utopian world opinions.

I agree with you. Thank you for responding with common sense and a place of understanding. Many of the kids on here don’t even try to read other’s opinions and understand it, before responding with emotional nonsense.

you've simply and entirely missed the point of the significance. your feelings are valid tho, but it's probably a good idea to do some research - google the transcript (i can send it) and fact check the things she said as well.

I'm curious to know if she has propose solutions. It's a real question. Don't come for me. I'm not well documented on the subject.

I think every problematic must be attacked by proposing something in specific.
