They're, virtually, all covers and not an original Beyoncé song. Any vocalist worthy of being called such can simply sing those songs. And, anyway, it's still all soul. She's not exactly going outside of the box there. 02. "Suga Mama" is still within the confines of R&B/soul, with funk influences. Great song, but not artistically ambitious. Same goes for "One Night Only". It's still within the confines of R&B/pop, with disco influences. All great songs that you posted, but nothing that earns her the title of being the "best" artist. 03. The question of her being the "best" artist is how is she challenging herself artistically? Can she mold herself around any other actual genre of music and make it her own? I'm not saying she's not a good artist (I actually love her), but I consider the best artists to be people like Prince, David Bowie, Grace Jones, Björk... just to name a few. They're either playing any instrument you throw at them, or were, or their discography is album after album of overall experimentation where they completely have a new sound. The list of artists that you consider the best are not versatile tho, i love them too but i think you mix a bit of everything, bjork going country not sure about that also the op didn't said anything about challenging , being the best doesn't mean going everywhere if prince wanted to challenge himself he would had been on Bad with Mj if bjork wanted to challenge herself she would had not delivered her last 2 albums Idk i think you lost yourself a bit, you ask for versatility and then talk about making a genre your own

Maybe you aren’t sure of what versatility is and how it doesn’t apply to a Beyoncé. Beyoncé is amazing in her lane. No one can do Beyoncé like Beyoncé. But she isn’t a writer, or musician, and certainly not versatile enough to be on a Prince/Bowie/Gaga level. She is a performer and a vocalist. Please point to me in the rules books where it says that Artists need to write and play instruments... I’ll wait. Beyoncé is an artist, period. Widows Kiss 7,818
There's no art in singing what a writing camp wrote for you and dancing choreographies that your team came up with, not to stay stole, for you.

Britney Spears knows how to play piano and wrote “everytime”- does that make her an artist? No. She, like Beyoncé, is are performers, not artist. An artist, like Gaga or Prince will conduct their songs on piano or guitar, then transfer them into pop songs. Beyoncé has like 20 people writing most of her tracks. Accept the facts sweetie. Nice try.

Beyoncé is one of the best performers in the world, but again- she doesn’t perform her own creations. She doesn’t conduct her music. She doesn’t write most of her songs. Versatility- when you can switch your voice to sound like the genre you are singing. Beyonce’s Vocals, diction, accent always stays the same. She lacks versatility. Even when acting- that’s why she got the flack on the lion king because all people could her was her non emotive “Beyoncé” voice. She is great at doing Beyoncé. That’s all she needs to do. But she lacks the mucsicianship and versatility to be called an artist. CELINE Dion is one of the best singers to ever exist. She is a performer and a vocalist, not an artist- even though she too, has sung multiple genres and written se of her songs.

Lemonade contains rock, country, pop, soul, ballads, rap, etc. She doesn’t play instruments, but she’s pushed herself out of her comfort zone plenty of times. I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

SHE IS VERSATILE, I don't think it's you to decide whether she is or not. Lemonade got praised for its versatility and mixing in genre by music critics. You think because Gaga did a Jazz album (because she was trained in Jazz) makes her versatile or because she's done a country album... BEYONCE IS LITERALLY FROM TEXAS.... Also, you dont know what goes on when Beyonce creates, she just released a whole documentary of behind the scenes of her AFROCENTRIC album and yet the Little Mistakes still have the nerve. Y'all look at Wikipedia to look at some writing credits and assume Beyonce doesn't contribute. GTFO.

Your arguments are getting worse and worse lol. She isn’t on the level of musicianship or versatility Gaga is. Now if we were talking about performance than that is a whole other ballgame. Beyoncé is comparable to a performer like Michael Jackson. Gaga is comparable to an artist like Prince. Oh and btw- lemonade wasn’t praised for its versatility. It was praised for the vulnerability and candidness of the subject matter in the album.
