I agree. I'm asking a few serious questions because I'm from the U.S. and not from Canada.

Does the police in Canada treat black or brown people the same way the U.S. does?

Are the jails full of people of color because of marijuana possession or "War on Drugs."?

Sometime we as Americans tend to force our point of view in other countries.

I will never forget watching a video of Japanese people in Japan asked about Kim Kardashian naming her shape wear line Kimono and they were like. Well that's not a Kimono, but who cares she can call it what ever she wants.

This is not that I know, but different backgrounds and different experiences lead to different trains of thought.

It’s not near as bad as it is in the US. Tension here is actually much more focused on indigenous issues. There are larger disproportions of indigenous people in jails per capita then other minorities, and the country is still trying to make amends for the absolute horrid history and mistreatment forced upon them (ie residential schools, a really horrible mark on our country’s history)

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

Ok cool meanwhile here's the tea about the Conservatives

Andrew Scheer said in an interview that he'd be willing to forgive anyone who has done racist, homophobic, etc. things in the past if they apologized.

But yesterday he posted a video on Twitter where he trashes Justin and states that "This was not acceptable in 2001".

Ok first of all you rotted ****, voting against gay marriage wasn't more acceptable back then and YOU DID IT.

Also how much of an hypocrite do you have to be to state you'd forgive anyone (in a desperate move to be forgiven yourself, clearly) then jump on the occasion to trash someone for blackface EIGHTEEN YEARS AGO ?!

But it's already too late. We'll be stuck with our own Trump. I am ****ing sick of politics we just can't get nice things omg

a white masc gay in his 20's being a racist? groundbreaking.

anyways it's a big yikes, i suspect in Canada it's the same as it is here in the UK where the racism is more subtle (outside of London that is)

It's a less major problem here in Canada than in the US but it exists

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_excessive_police_force_incidents_in_Canada idk if reliable (but sure there's TONS of things that never get out). also we don't really hear or see black people being pointed guns at etc I rarely see news like this

As a Canadian and POC, my support for him doesn't change one bit. He is NOT a racist. This was a stupid thing he did almost 20 years ago and he is proven since then that he respects minorities and is willing to stand up for them.

My support for him is meh.

But i agree with u. His intention probably wasnt a racist one. It was careless and insensitive not intentionally hurtful i dont think

everyone over a span of 20 years has dirt that can look really bad on you if it became public tbh its just a matter of whether someone has a snap shot to make it public
