Brown face didn't even exist. Middle easterns/arabs are actually considered white in the U.S. They were not subject to segregation like african-americans. This is racist, and you're all allowed to say that a 29 years-old man should have known better. But in 2001, EVERYONE should have known better. People older and younger than him have done blackface and brownface. Is it acceptable or justifiable in context? No. Does it make sense in context? Maybe. Does it matter today, 18 years later? Mexican immigration grew larger in the late 1900s, that's 1980-1990 for you. And that's why past the era of "black face" use. Moreover, Trudeau here was dressed as an arab, in an arabian themed party. How is this related to mexicans?
