She wasn't creditedĀ in David Guetta's Hey Mama for a very long time. This is probably more Nickiās fault, since she has had this issue with several songs, Ester Dean singing the chorus of Super Bass & Turn Me On, the singer singing āThe Crying Gameā wasnāt credited at the beginning too.Ā But yeah, this is a common practice in both hip hop and EDM/Dance Music. But you need to think of it, sometimes vocalistsĀ donāt want to be recognized because of a song they sold or got paid for. Because it is not the type of music they want to do. This is the case for Sia and Wild Ones for example. Ā Bebe sang the most important part in āThe Monsterā, but only Rihanna was credited. Bebe and others being ****ed over by the industry is awful, truly. But many times itās the decision of the singer/artist and their LabelĀ to stay unnamed.Ā

When he just booked a vocalist with no imput, simply to ālend their voiceā, they arenāt credited as a feature. Itās very much a difference between āthis song was a collaborative effortā and āI bookedĀ a vocalist to sing MY songā. And thatās how most of these cases work. And if not more often than not it is a business decision. Does the Featured Artist want this song in theirĀ discography? Could it hurt the vocalistās image? Does it fit with their branding? Ā Same goes withĀ why DJās are featured on some songs (āWe found loveā, āStarstruckāĀ and āBreak Freeā) while they arenāt on others (āWhere Have You Beenā, āFashion!ā, āOne Last Timeā). Business decisions.
