My reply focused specifically on your assertion that 'showing homophobia isn't homophobic', not the movie per se... Later it focused on your comment that not everything needs to have a clear cut explanation to which I pointed out why it can be a negative thing - you haven't managed to dispute either of my arguments so far... Also, the movie is supposed to work as a stand-alone work of art, not a bonus to the book, so keep your sass, or at least come back with something worth-while to say first Edit: Btw, since you edited your first post... People on here aren't confused about why that scene is in the movie - what worries them is how OTHER social circles might interpret that scene... Noone on here is confused about it or is having second thoughts after watching it - alleging that is plain stupid... Maybe they're not the ones who need to sit down and think about it... Maybe you should be the one who thinks a little harder about how something like this can backfire instead of riding your high horse and telling other people how stupid they are...  It's a joke! Nightwing 518
Honestly, I didn't care for the scene. I loved how it began, it was a couple just enjoying the carnival only to get gay bashed. For the amount of time spent on the couple, I would have thought there would have been some type of resolution. I would have felt much better if Pennywise had attacked the homophobes as a group, but no... I wasn't "triggered" by it. It didn't ruin my enjoyment of the film. But I did not like that scene. Lol alexa play cry me a river I mean, you can, but if it's superfluous, people are free to take umbrage with that, similarly to how they take issue with superfluous rape scenes... Things in media don't exist in a bubble - it's not a bad thing to put something in a context and question what kind of effect it and similar media has Btw, there's plenty of media that questions the way straight white men die or are portrayed in movies as well, and what kind of effect it can potentially have - look up 'Pop Culture Detective' on youtube... Doesn't mean you can't portray those deaths at all, but context matters and things have an effect, especially when it comes to popular media...  It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke! I'm saying that I wish the directors/producers had made the decision for Pennywise to kill the homophobes; not because they're homophobic, but because he wanted to kill them.
