The Carpenters 309
Her career just isn’t that of a normal pop star. She has expanded and is doing arguably better than she ever has!
Franch Toast 26,869
Aside from what other people on this thread have brought up (how critically acclaimed both "Shallow" and ASIB have been, etc.), we can't really compare Gaga to other pop stars because she's not just a pop star anymore. She's won prestigious awards for her acting: wins include the Golden Globe for AHS: Hotel, the Critics Choice Best Actress Award for ASIB (tied with Glenn Close of course), the National Board of Review Award for Best Actress for ASIB....These accolades are in addition to all of the nominations she's earned for best actress (including an Oscar) and all of the wins she's received for "Shallow," which I believe is the most highly-awarded song ever. We might not like it, but I imagine that LG's career isn't going to continue to follow the trajectory of that of a typical pop star, because if she wants to continue acting, which she claims has always been her dream more than singing, she needs to do it now and strike while the iron is hot. Hollywood is not kind to aging actresses. Even so, I am amazed that she shows no signs of slowing down – I'm not going to reiterate all of her recent accomplishments that others have posted, but the b*tch (and I use this word lovingly) has been busy. New music is coming, even if we don't know when (could be weeks, could be months, could be late next year, could be the year after), but we just had new music last fall, new music that's done so well with the general public that even non-singles are catching people's attention and over-performing. She's doing two highly acclaimed residencies in Las Vegas that are performing so well that Ticketmaster is being super greedy and jacking up the prices, and the GP is still willing to buy those obscenely priced $$$ tickets – I think her shows might be more expensive than any of the other Las Vegas residencies. (Yeah, I know a lot of supposed fans don't like Enigma, but Enigma is doing just fine without the support of these "fans".) I wouldn't be surprised if we see her do more acting work soon, and of course there's Haus Labs too, which people like to hate on, but the products aren't even out yet. Music is no longer her only priority. I get that this can be upsetting to fans who became a fan because of the music and are thirsty for new bops. Going forward, it probably will take her longer to put out albums, especially if she has kids at some point. I guess what I'm trying to say with my long-winded comment is that she's not just a singer anymore, so we can't only measure her career in terms of albums and songs. All of this aside, can we just stop and appreciate the fact that LG wrote and performed most of the songs on the ASIB soundtrack and starred in the film? Even Whitney didn't write the songs on The Bodyguard soundtrack. Oh, and somewhere in there she headlined the Super Bowl Halftime Show, Coachella, launched a beauty line, traveled the world on the JWT and promoted Joanne, put together two completely different residencies, and presumably wrote and recorded songs for LG6.....The Queen of Multitasking. (And I didn't even mention the Met Gala or all of the ASIB promotion.) She/Her/Hers
Mr S 8,672
Your title/question doesn't match your OP. She is not on a commercial decline. I think u r asking whether she is as motivated as before?
