Disney+ has revealed that new episodes of its original TV series will be rolled out weekly — not all at once. That means you will have to wait for a follow-up to each episode’s cliffhanger, just like the good old days.

Tim Federle, creator of the upcoming Disney+ show High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, told TheWrap that his show “would release its 10 episodes on a weekly basis.” A Disney+ spokeperson then confirmed to the publication that “all the streaming service’s series will follow this same format.”

what’s the point then?

$$$

But couldn't you just wait until the season ended and then pay for it then? I'm assuming the episodes will never expire.

Not sure if it's the best decision considering how used to we are to the instant gratification of netflix and such, but I think there will be a lot of fans that won't mind, we'll have to see. Looking forward to all of the content they have planned though.

I've had to binge watch a couple of tv shows because every time they premiere on a friday, by monday you see social media flooded with spoilers so it's nice that they decide to do it this way.

I'm not sure how I feel about this though! Sometimes I want to watch like 3-4 episodes per night and having to wait a week to know what happens next is going to be hard.

I read somewhere that another benefit they get for this is, that this is major advertising for them. When episodes are released all at once, then the hype for the show stops shortly after a while and that was it (think stranger things). When episodes are released weekly, you have people talking about the show for weeks on end (think game of thrones) and that's good for their platform.  I don't think I'll get Disney+ but I like that they're going for this format, there is some sort of fun in waiting with people all over the world for an episode to come out, it gets more exciting and the hype is bigger!

Oh wow, never been done before :rip:

They are literally trying to bring cable back. This time you’ll just be paying for 10 different streaming services.

I actually enjoy the weekly episode format for some shows but I love binging as well.

Honestly, for shows with 8-13 episodes, I prefer weekly.

After S3 of Stranger Things, I realized how much I would have preferred it to be weekly, because I finished it in 2 days after waiting a whole year for it..

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy
