Oh if you mean AUTHENTIC in terms of her personality, I think Joanne is where she showed us who she really is. I agree she seems so depressed during ARTPOP and also in BTW, it felt like she wanted to  do a Joanne era asap :ladyhaha: but my point was the transition from a eccentric pop girl to the versatile and human woman she is known today (at least most of the time, sometimes she comes back to those weird outfits and makeup). And personally some of the ARTPOP performances are my favorites (like the SXSW fest or the chairs performances at the Artrave, etc), but I admit some of them are literally so bad (like the x factor one :wtfga:) and her sound was still pop like her previous eras so, yeah, nothing new I guess, but Idk :poot: I still think the mix of art, pop, tech ans sex (:stalkga:) is unique but something was missing. She really shoud do an act II to do justice.

no, i mean authentic in general. ARTPOP musically is just (pretty good vocals + great lyrics) x horrible premade tracks.. lol

the only thing that saved ARTPOP was the reverse warholian thing which was very interesting and she executed it pretty well. yeah, she definitely at times wears odder outfits, she's gaga. an act ii will never come out and it's not even legal to make anything related to ARTPOP anymore and i doubt she wants to return to that dark time. i just, can't really imagine tinnitus and princess die being released officially as an ep, and interscope loathes ARTPOP

The Fame era, tbh. I feel like she was most connected to her work then. She seemed really passionate during the first 2 years of her career.

A second runner up would be cheek to cheek era. It was another project she was passionate about.

The rest...? It was authentic to some extent, don't get me wrong, but she didn't seem as engaged to them as much as the fame and c2c.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk:vegas:

The Fame and Joanne.

I think The Fame definitely had a "persona" per say, but if you watch the Gagavisions and interviews from that time she lived and breathed that character on and off camera and there was no pretense about it. There was no tailoring how she should come across to her audience other than just being herself because there was no expectations built yet since she was so new.

Likewise Joanne was a return to doing what she wanted to do rather than what she was expected as Gaga to do.

ARTPOP feels the least authentic to me by miles.

But half of that album is fillers... then you have Judas which is supposed to be another Bad Romance/Pokerface.  She also physically changed her image. She wore prosthetics on her face and shoulders to give her a more "alien" look. There was an agenda with it, they sold the album for 99 cents when it first came out... and the whole theme of the album was thought of in 2010. Born This Way was honest in the view that its about her bullied past. But, she wasn't an open book.  Therefore to me, Born This Way isn't her most authentic album. Joanne is because she let us see the parts she shut off. Even in her interviews, she was more open.

BTW is her most cohesive album with every song still having a different sound and lyrical content to offer how is half of it fillers ?

Born This Way and Joanne . BTW represents the most weird not giving a f side of her yet the most independent and innovative. Joanne is her most raw and honest album.

The Fame, The Fame Monster and Born This Way. Not necessarily for their themes and what they stood for. But because she would often perform an album track rather than the song she's promoting when on talk shows for example. But now it seems she conforms too much. Look what she did with the Brit awards performance. She did her own thing. She doesn't really seem to take risks anymore with her pop career. She's been a risk taker in the other aspects of her music but not so much with the pop persona.

Born This Way for sure...

She was so passionate about the message and worldwide promo and even her interactions with fans was so warm and close

Joanne was try hard to me...sorry not sorry

ARTPOP was way too pretentious and a bad time in her life honestly

Born This Way.

And her last true authentic album.

It was definitely free of preconceived ideas. There was no agenda, no need to change her image, Gaga was at the top of her career and could do whatever she wanted to. Born This Way was incredibly honest to herself and her vision back then, and everything sound is her own.

Tbh born this way.

ironically, Joanne felt the most inauthentic out of all of her eras.

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.
