So according to rumors, Gaga originally had a hugely ambitious plan for her 2013 VMAs "comeback" performance. It was going to take the idea of the Martyr of Fame up to level 11. There were supposed to be flaming paper forests and a death and rebirth scene and everything. Apparently at the last minute the plans were rejected and a more watered-down "Gaga era throwback" performance was pushed for. But I don't think this is really what happened and I don't think it had anything to do with Miley, that's classic Little Monster pop gurl vs pop gurl fanfiction. gagzus 15,656 Posted August 12, 2019 Share Posted August 12, 2019 MTV wanted Gaga to change up her Applause performance as it was meant to start on the red carpet and then end after her performance opening the show. She wanted torture art onstage and technology that would make her fly around the stage and maker her gown change colours etc. She was meant to arrive dressed presumably as her Aphrodite/Venus persona, but she was meant to have 3 lookalikes dresses as her from TF, TFM & BTW era arrive with her. Which was later reincorporated into her stage performance with the outfit changes. Then during the show, she left early because she realised how much of a sh*t show the awards had become when the fans and some celebs in the audience all started booing One Direction for winning. She attended the MTV Movie & TV Awards (who goes there?) when she won best doc for 5F2 premiered Million Reason video there was awarded 2 MTV EMAs in 2016 acknoledged her VMA nominations this year I see many people saying she's snubbing the VMAs for that, but I think the real case is that she doesnt have nothing new to perform sadly. This performance even though higly artistic and creative does not fit Applause and the ARTPOP era AT ALL. The whole thing was upbeat and colorful adn she would make this out of nowhere? How come she would include torture scenes in a teen focused show at primetime?? Ofc the directors wouldn't allow it Also, the end of the performance includes her flying diagonally through the stage in a moment where the music was at full energy. Cant anyone visualize this would kill the song vibe? It's like it's a masterpiece performance for the wrong song, since Applause requires other settings. Which was done in the actual performance?
