My mom's family used to come to the US all the time but they've been more than a bit freaked out to come visit us as of late. Obviously, racism and violence have always been present but it's become more normalized for people to be more open about their hate and violence these past few years and it terrifies people... It is best to not back down cos that is what the attackers want. They want to scare people. Guve pain mentally. I personally won't be deterred by this. And I believe a lot of people will too. When you have to travel, you just gonna. Lots of people still visits London or Paris even after acid attacks and terrorists taking hostages more than once as of late. People still visits India when that Mumbai hotel got bombed by terrorists, people still visits Bali even after terrorists bombed that place twice, and lotsa more examples. I personally still got my December travel to Hong Kong intact despite the unrest happening there now. Life must go on despite the tragedies afterall.
