Haven’t lots of these Trap artists been in prison though? Maybe my word choice was too harsh, but a lot of them are definitely criminals.

And? you can literally say that about any othee music genre. You are just being judgamental and talking like a 50 yo white lady named Karen. Chill, it's just music wether you like it or not.

I hate how closed minded are people with reggaeton, there are good songs and good artists. Becky G isn't Beyoncé but a she's pretty good singer and she's kind and humble. It's music for dancing and partying and there's nothing wrong with that. And don't come with 'uh rEGgaGeTon Is SeXIST, ThEy are DeLiNqUENtS' Have you ever lisented to American hip-hop? Or even rock music?

Gurl she’s not, she’s cocky and treats people from the industry really bad. Such a diva when she hasn’t earned that yet, I know it from first hand

Be kind sis, that's not a way to treat people.

You literally called me ''disgusting'' because I said something bad an artist, and then I found out that you called Britney an old retired act  lmao:sharon:. Practice what you preach, sis.

I hate reggaetón. Literally all the songs are the same. And Latin Trap is the worst thing ever. It’s basically a bunch of delinquents mumbling heavily auto tuned ****.

so Becky G, Sofia Reyes, and Rosalia are criminals? :nooo: spill the tea, what crimes did they commit?  I want to know

Was it a genuine change in taste or a response to Trump's put down of Mexicans bringing out patriotism for the Hispanic population's origins? We'll never truly know but one thing's for sure, it's going to result in a lot of explanations years down the line when future generations go back to listen to old albums from the last few years.

"Why are so many albums from this time got some random Latin song on it with this featured verse from some Latin rapper we don't know?"

"Ah, yeah, back then, there was this song called Despacito and it was so big, close to being the biggest hit in America of all time and after that, it was like everyone tried to copy its formula in the hopes of creating the same success for themselves."

See what I mean when I say that the aim should be to create timeless music? Only make music you're truly into because that'll shine through whenever it's listened to in the future. But music that was made to adhere to current trends? By making something current, you will always make it more dated, always, always, always.

Umm yeah, I also hate hip hop. The thing is that I don’t hate songs that talk about sex and drugs and are just for dancing, but I question an artist’s credibility when all the songs are about the  same thing.

Also, why do you assume those who hate reggaetón for being sexist don’t hate other predominantly sexist genres as well?

And have you read those lyrics tho? I don’t know if you know Spanish, but if you don’t find a translation. They’re massively degrading and most of the time disgusting.

And it’s not racism, at least not from my part because I myself am a Latin American. I just don’t like it and people are allowed to dislike it, especially extremely sexist songs that literally talk about the same thing over and over and with awful vocals.

I didn’t say all were criminals, just that lots of them were. These girls haven’t been to prison that  I know of.

Anuel AA, Tempo, Bryant Meyers, Alberto Styles, Don Omar, J Alvarez, etc .

Most of them for illegal arms possession and trafficking, drug possession and some of them theft and homicide attempt.

I don't know any of them, maybe don Omar but I believe you, a lot of them are criminals.

I used to hate reggaeton so much when I was in high school but now I love it:messga: yes it sounds the same but I really don't care because I can listen to Gaga, florence, taylor, natalia lafurcade, vampire weekend, panic at the disco, etc if I want to listen to really good music but sometimes I like to listen to fun music, I don't take reaggaeton  seriously

You used a blank statement that was pretty harsh. Stop assuming.

I didn’t assume, I know. I don’t know where you’re from, but over here in Latin America EVERYONE knows many of these artists are criminals. And that’s their appeal, same with hip hop artists in America. That’s how you know they’re “cool”. Many of them have been to prison for illegal arms and drugs trafficking, drug dealing, assault, theft, homicide attempt.

Since when is it ok to defend criminals? Y’all jump on any celebrity and cancel them when something surfaces.

I see a trend in here that people overtly defend non-American genres like Kpop and Reggaetón and seem to think hating on them is racist or insensitive for some reason.

Relax sis, it's not necessary being so judgmental with urban music, you know people enjoy dance and sings urban music, and it's not just a Puerto Rico thing, here in Chile already we have a lot of new successful urban singers, like Paloma Mami, Drefquila, Ceaese, Tommy Boysen or Princesa Alba

I love Paloma Mami, but I hate when they define Latin music as JUST that music, like we're not just trashy dance sexist reggaeton and trap, there's so many styles and groups, I feel then people from the US are gonna see us as just that, many artists in those genres are delinquents, which we all aren't of course (you'd know, the Chilean stereotype that we're all thieves) and I hate that, I love music from our side of the world, but I love Miranda, Mon Laferte, Javiera Mena, etc etc, which is also music that's latin.

Old reggaeton is the best. New reggaeton sucks and is the same thing over and over. Trap is the one I have a serious aversion to.

Daddy Yankee and Nicki Jam are probably the only current reggaeton artists I respect.
