Because surely Disney hoped the soundtrack would be successful, because: 1) it is promo for the movie and this is the main reasons they payed Beyoncé to release it 2) they still get money from the soundtrack, since it’s based on the concept of the movie they own 3) they don’t even care about the money they can get from the soundtrack, since it’s nothing comparing to profits they get from the movie (a few millions vs billions). That's a one-time thing though.
