Betty Who

The opening lines of the first part (Fear and Loathing) Speak so much to this era. :(

"I lived a lot of different lives,

Been different people many times..."

Fear & Loathing is such a beautiful song, so thoughtful and sombre, but uplifting at the same time   The perfect summing up of what the Electra Heart era was all about as well!

I'm trying to decipher all the parts right now and see if I can put the whole story together. Her hair throughout out the videos mean a lot I believe.

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

I'm inclined to believe this too, there is an emphasis on how she changes her hair or has it styled in quite a few parts: F&L she cuts it, Radioactive has the blonde wig, etc.. I shall have to watch them all again to refresh my memory!  :fan:

Guys, what if in the context of the series, she's singing Lies (part 10) to her other personalities and not a male lover? :deadbanana:

does anyone else here kinda want applause to be like electra heart in a sense? like, this big, theatrical, opera techno pop masterpiece, i could see it. and all the a--logies equating performance with love and affection the way eh discussed, with songs like "starring role"

BROSEIDON

Does anyone know where I can purchase the tracks left off the US edition? On Amazon if I buy the imported version, I can get an mp3 download of them but I'm having a hard time convincing myself to pay $30 for an album I've already purchased just for 3 extra tracks.

U-GO-BOY

Does anyone have any idea who produced Electra Heart?

I wondered that too. I don't think it's a well known producer.. It just sounds so different..

I heard that Stargate produced it (The same guy who produced Radioactive)

just read this theory about the electra heart videos and it's amazing: :legend:

The Electra Heart Archetypes are shown in complete reverse order. We originally thought that the parts went in order, from Part 1 (the beginning of Electra) to Part 11 (the supposed death of Electra).

I believe that Part 1 was actually the end and death of Electra Heart and Part 11 the beginning.

I see Part 11 as the introduction to Electra Heart, “I’m Electra, Electra Heart’ is like an introduction to the character with the ‘lights they blind me’ part symbolising her vision that her future of her new perception as Electra Heart, and that getting on in life will be easy as the lights will guide her.

Part 10 (Lies) is the struggle of identity and not wanting to know her real self before the vision of Electra Heart. She is trying to forget her past, which is why she puts on the disguise of Electra Heart.

Part 9 (State of Dreaming) is the dream of becoming a house wife/beauty queen/idle teen, and dreaming of falling in love and marrying the man of her dreams. It’s all in her head and she seems to have planned her life out from the start.

Part 8 (E.V.O.L) is the seeing relationships fall apart and thining that her life will never get in the state of ‘two lonely people who **** love up and make it evol’.

Part 7 (How To Be A Heartbreaker) shows her becoming more confident in her image of Electra Heart, and feels she is becoming the perfect ‘archetype’, taking on parts of each. She now knows what she is doing in love, being the perfect heartbreaker.

For parts 7 - 11, her hair is black, showing the evil in the person she was before adapting the role of Electra Heart. The use of the blonde wig for the following parts is a way to cover up her identity. As the parts reach the end (from my perception - part 1), the black roots show more and more, until it is eventually black again in Fear and Loathing, showing her darkness taking over her dreams of becoming the perfect archetype.

Part 6 (Power and Control) is finding her first love and trying to prove herself as a serious person, as they battle in who has the status, power and control in the relationship.

Part 4 (Primadonna) shows she is now married, and happy with life as Electra Heart, as she’s got what she wants. Part 3, however, shows growing older and more detached from the idea of love and archetypes.

Part 2 (Radioactive) is her desperation to hold on to her original dream and love, which is shown by her craze in the video. She tries adapting to a new disguise of a straight blonde wig, as if she still believes she needs to adapt to this love.

Part 1 (Fear & Loathing) is her giving up on life and, I believe, had the video continued, would be her death in jumping off the balcony. I always had an eerie sense from this video, as if she is hiding, hence returning back to her original image, I think between Radioactive/Fear and Loathing she may have killed her husband in desperation and has seen the problems in the archetypes.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is my view on the Electra Heart era, which in my eyes is one of the best campaigns, concepts and idea in music. Thank you Marina, R.I.P. Electra Heart.

Fun Fact: The K in KPop stands for "Kate Bush"

Alcina Dimitrescu

Oh, I hadn't noticed EH video had happened :flop:

I disagree with the above theory. I think the videos do go in order. She killed her husband in P&C, went hypers-xual in HTBAH and then completly snapped at EVOL and from there and up she was just completly crazy.
