The first 20 seconds are very close, but just skirt on by from being a copy.  Diane Warren's been in the game long enough to know the limits and this song was her baby. As others said, too, there are only so many notes—this kind of closeness isn't that uncommon. This song was talked about a lot by some music critics, because of Diane's defense, and not one of them thought it was a rip off and I'm sure they are all aware of Al Stewart, too.
