Guest
Scooter bought what Taylor does not own, he did not buy her share of her career, he bought what the record label owns. He did not wrong in my opinion. Although I think the music industry should change and artists should own more of their art and not put in these long contracts. Also, minors should not be allowed to consent to long term contracts.

She was NEVER given a chance to gain ownership of her master recordings, outside of one unfair deal that would have screwed her over anyway.

Well then the problem is not scooter, its her record label. But no artist owns their masters, if they want to fully own their masters, they can be independent. They own part of her work, they dont have to give her a good deal to buy it as they own it.

But her contract was finished. She made a great deal of money for them, and she said she begged and pleaded for years to own her work. She probably even offered a great deal of money to own her master recordings. A label that had her best interests at heart would have offered her a chance to buy her own music, as a parting of ways gift. Especially since her old music doesn’t have that much commercial value anymore because trends have changed and interest in her new music has made her past records less profitable. And if this happens to Gaga you better say the exact same thing. I think you’re only saying this because you don’t care about Taylor.

Giving up their share of the work as a gift to an artists who has 300 million is not logical. This is business, not your best friend.
ALGAYDO 32,871
I'm no Taylor hater but this is ridiculous. If she wanted to own her music, she shouldn't have released music under her label. And like, I don't even like this Scooter dude cause he seems toxic af (cyber bullying people, overworking his artists for his own selfish profits, attaining money from Osama Bin Ladin's family, etc.) But he literally did nothing wrong. He saw a great business opportunity that would make him a fortune, and he took it. Sorry Taylor Fans. Maybe she can go independent now so she can own her stuff. The only reason they own masters is because they give artists advances ($$$) and cover costs of manufacturing the CDs or Vinyl before the album goes on sale. Taylor has made enough money for them to cover those advances. They put no work into the creative process of a master or very little work. Stop posting half truths. She wasn't even given the opportunity to out bid Scooter. OnHappiness 13
Y’all don’t create art won’t know how terrible it must have been for Taylor. So shut up. Wait until your personal journal was stolen by your hater and you have lost control over how they publish it. Lmao.
