Hyperballad 4,311
If you don’t know... well here it is. I’m too lazy to explain https://www.cbsnews.com/news/nike-betsy-ross-flag-sneaker-colin-kaepernick-arizona-governor-doug-ducey-yanks-state-money-for-plant-2019-07-02/ Anyways, I don’t know how to feel. On one hand slavery was legal during this era but on the other it was a flag simply intended to represent the 13 colonies. Another thing which I don’t know if this sounds like im defending something tied to slavery (I’m sorry if it does) but doesn’t Nike use child labor and factories with awful conditions What do you think? Petie Estie 5,714
if they never announced this shoe in the first place nobody would be calling them anti-american. But confront conservatives with the fact that slavery is wrong and America was built off the backs of slaves and they'll freak out over how you should be proud of America's history. Okay then!! and to add about the flag...I can see why some people would feel uncomfortable glorifying the country from the 13 colonies era where slavery was legal. Would you want to wear a shoe that had the flag of a country that enslaved your people? But I'm white so I can only listen to what Colin may or may not be saying here. DeleteMyAccount 11,881
People need to start explaining whether or not they want the US flag(today, from the slavery era), the Confederate flag, etc to represent the US. Make up your minds.. If Kaep didn't want today's flag on the shoes then maybe I'd take issue, but Americans need to figure our their flag issues. On a side note. Let's not forget the real issue here. The fact the Kaep is out of play do to the racism that still exists in our society. Other players in the NFL have been given contracts before Kaep like Nick Bosa who has a history of racism and homophobia. Or Richie Incognito who was resigned our of RETIREMENT. "For those that might not remember or for those who get tired of reading how being racist really does help you level up in Trump’s America, you may not know that Richie Incognito doesn’t just have a history of racist and violent behavior, but during his time with the Miami Dolphins in 2013, he was accused of bullying teammate Jonathan Martin with homophobic and racial slurs. He openly called Martin, who is black, a “half-******.” In the end, it was chalked up to being locker room talk." https://www.theroot.com/the-oakland-raiders-grabbed-an-openly-racist-player-out-1835092499 Or NFL owners calling black protesters, "inmates". JazzGa 14,654
That Republican idiot only shoots himself in the foot by threatening to turn away Arizona's shot at bringing in a worldwide company and boosting its economy, over "wah wah they takied away da shoe I pretended to like!!" As if Nike cares about "losing" the opportunity to build in Arizona, where I doubt they were seriously considering moving operations anyways. The only lost opportunity is for Arizona. jsn 1,669
Idiots mad over some shoes they weren't even going to buy to begin with Someone should point the fake-angry conservatives to the U.S. Flag Code that states that the flag should not be used for apparel. They slap that **** on shirts, shoes, bikinis, tacky festive paper plates and cups, etc., pretending that it's "patriotic" while ignoring that the Flag Code says all of that is forbidden. (I don't personally care where they put the flag; I just think it's stupid they supposedly love the country so much yet ignore specific parts they don't want to deal with.)
