This is insanity, everyone is getting all riled up because of the POTENTIAL that there is something racially insensitive behind someone painting themselves with black body paint. Is she doing a black racist caricature? No. Is she using the performance as a way to incite anti-black agenda? No.

You are all insane. Ya'll better hope Gaga's V magazine stuff from the Fame era don't start spreading.

Chill—I don't think Sia even realized how it could come across and no, I wouldn't technically call it blackface. But it is still stupid as h*ll and insensitive to paint oneself entirely black to blend into a wall. And no, Gaga and Ariana's fake Jersey Shore tans are't on the same level of stupid/insensitive—although I hope Gaga fans don't get involved because people will start dragging the V magazine photo, ran through a filter, up.

But I agree that people trying to destroy/hurt Sia's career over this are going too far.

I don’t think Sia meant bad, she just had a concept and executed it the worst way possible :awkney:

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

It's honestly wild. Does a single person here actually think this had anything to do with race?

to be fair... a few years ago (including the time of sias pics, gagas berghain party pic and the v magazine pics as well) no one was talking about blackface or cultural appropriation.

before 2010 almost EVERY female popstar was wearing geisha looks or afro hairstyles to celebrate other cultures, children (including myself back then) were painting their faces black for carnival, halloween or dress up parties and there was never a problem with that.

since the message was spread and people declared their feelings a lot changed and neigher sia nor gaga ever did something like that again. some people need to chill.

i didnt even know this happened:popcorn:

Obviously there’s no malicious intent with this but out of all the alleged photos of celebrities doing blackface how did SIA of all people manage to have the most offensive and scary looking one?  :air:

offtopic but do we kow if gaga owns her material or does it belong to the label?

Doubtful - artists under major labels rarely own their masters. It’s the labels way of insuring that they’ll take on less risk, and get a return on their investment in the artist. It’s basically the labels “insurance” in investing in an unknown artist.  Gaga is still with Interscope and hasn’t constructed any new deal with them as far as I know, so, interscope undoubtedly owns her masters. It’s a pretty standard deal though - everyone, including the artist, still profits.

Bio

Swifties need to go to sleep immediately. And Taylor needs to apologize for the mess she made. This is completely absurd.

Jesus some of y'all and those Twitter stans are so hateful. You can be mad at her for taking sides but attacking her appearance and making up false claims against her to try tear her down is petty and uncalled for.

THIS

Imagine wanting to prohibit anyone to use just a color to paint their face because  that same color was IN THE PAST used  in negative ways. Imagine thinking that. Imagine how deformed your grasp on reality must be

I've seen people calling blackface even Gaga's tan at the Oscars, as if she wasn't Italian and hadn't just come back from some Mexican beaches. People are really looking for satisfaction claiming absurdities and finding similar brainless people online
