Diplomacy between the US and NK is a massive step forward in US foreign policy and the potential for nuclear de-proliferation, and a lot of South Koreans view reunification as a dream that may never be realized. This could help turn that dream into a reality. That being said, is Trump likely embellishing to make himself look good for the press? Absolutely. As a fellow Korean I gotta say - as long as this marks the progress of making peace, there’s no reason to oppose to this regardless of who’s doing it. Our country and NK is still at war, just that it’s been paused for decades. Diplomacy between US & NK is inevitably huge deal for us since the fate of our nation depends on it. Though peace treaty still sounds a long way to go, if denuclearization is taking place in near future it’ll lower the threat of recurring the war. That alone means tremendous for us. It’s funny that not many of us believe in reunification, though. There are huge sum of us thinking we should remain as separate country when peace is restored. I think democrats should think about this issue since we are in war (mostly) because of mess that they've made. I mean I don't even support trump (since I am gay, not only korean) but to us this is more then politics, we are paying a lot of prices because of the division, just like every war.
