I'm alive!

The show was absolutely fantastic. She found the  perfect balance of  political and entertaining, which is especially  great to see because she has struggled with that in the past. The crowd seemed to be really into it,  everyone showed up hours early and huddled around the stage in anticipation. I didn't move from the spot I found for a good 4 hours but it was worth it, especially since I got such a good view of the debut performance of God Control. I was kinda dreading an AL performance, but screaming the rap break was some of the most fun I've had this vacation.  Fun fact: you can see my hand point at her during the superstar line in Vogue if you watch the video.

She was really present that night and the speeches were all on point.  Great crowd interaction too. She had a bit right after her bow where we basically begged for an encore:

M: "I wish I could stay!"

Us: "You can!"

M: "I wish I had more time!"

Us: "You do!"

M: "I wish I'd rehearsed more songs!"

Us:  :(

She exited the stage dancing to I Don't Search I Find and they set off fireworks to Freedom 90 by George Michael.

Between her and Grace Jones this year's festival was  one for the history books. I'm incredibly thankful I've had the opportunity and privilege to attend.

Oh that's awesome. Were you close to the stage?

I haven’t watched yet but why so short?? The headliners here usually do like 10 songs.

I really want to see a video of American Life before it starts playing. I want to see the people's reaction!

That. Was. AMAZING!!! I find it so incredible that Madonna has managed to continually evolve and shape-shift as an artist even at 60 YEARS OLD. She always delivers. Always. And she’s so youthful. It’s like I’m watching a 30 year old woman perform instead of a 60 year old one! For comparison, here’s David Bowie in 2006, at 59 years old. This was his final live performance ever:

As you can see, he wasn’t doing so well. He had a heart attack back in 2004, and he had an IV bandage on his left hand. It’s sad that this happened to him. 😢 The fact Madonna managed to evade health problems and has continued to kick ass, both onstage and off, is deeply, deeply inspiring to me.
