StrawberryBlond 14,923
90's, without a shadow of a doubt. It was her only decade that produced consistently good albums. There was the little known (by today's standards) but musical-tastic I'm Breathless soundtrack album, the classy-sexy Erotica, the highly underrated Bedtime Stories (even her fans don't really bring up that album) and the immortal Ray Of Light, her best ever album. Such a shame it all went downhill after that, as far as I'm concerned. I was born in 1989, so my first memories of her were in the late 90's with her old hits like Material Girl and Like A Prayer but I became more aware of her music when I went to high school in 2001 when she made Music (still like that song) and started properly listening to her lyrics in 2003, when she put out American Life. But I was never as moved as when I heard her old stuff. When I listened to her discography in full, I was shocked at the drop in quality post-90's. It's when she became all about trends and her music just got really dull, nothing groundbreaking or truly memorable with very few (usually album-only tracks) exceptions. I feel kinda sorry for her young fans whose point of reference is her current work and that's all they've really known her for. The Madonna of today is a shadow of her former self and I say this as someone who isn't even a fan but appreciates good music when I hear it. If I'd been a teenager in the 80's, she'd have been my idol, especially with that True Blue album. But hearing her recent work at 29...I don't get how she manages to get any new fans. DiamondKing 24,548
I only heard most of her singles and 4 albums in full (Ray of Light, Confessions on a Dancefloor, Rebel Heart, Madame X) 2000s > 2010s > 1980s > 1990s Probably the only Madonna songs from before 2000 I often listen to are Like a Prayer and Vogue The 2000s singles are everything - Music, American Life, Die Another Day, Hung Up, Sorry, 4 Minutes, Give It 2 Me, Celebration and I really like the Confessions album From the 2010s I love Give Me All Your Luvin, Girl Gone Wild (pop perfection ), Bitch I'm Madonna, Medellín and some Rebel Heart deepcuts (Iconic , Unapologetic Bitch, Devil Pray, Illuminati, Messiah, Rebel Heart), so far Madame X is not really my cup of tea DiamondKing out

FfFfFfFF 56,328
The 80s were the blandest times for Madonna. Her first albums barely any substance and I don't even like replaying them because they are aged and I doubt they were that good in the first place. True Blue was in improvement but it was LAP was released when artistry was evident. There was a literal jump in quality. The 1990s have Erotica and Ray of Light - very good albums with lots of good songs and meticulously crafted soundscapes and themes (one interesting thing is that read somewhere that these two albums are linked in a very intriguing way: Erotica is the album that talks about sex and Ray of Light is the result of it aka becoming a mother, adopping spirituality etc). Bedtime Stories however is discography filler for me. Musically the 2000s are top notch. This is the decade that has Music, American Life and Confessions back to back - with Hard Candy there was a diminution in quality but the decade was still pretty much flawless overall. The 2010s have Rebel Heart and Madame X which are also great and feel like essential Madonna records but MDNA (75% of it) drags the decade down plus I feel like she wasn't really present in this decade. So I would say 1990s = 2000s > 2010s > 1980s - which is the popular opinion I believe.
LUO YI 6,089
I started listening to her music with Rebel Heart and I loved it. I didn't know much about her since I was born in 2002 and I didn’t really care about any old music. After listening to her whole discography, even Soundtracks, I fell in love with Erotica. There are so many reasons why I love 90's Madonna so much. Madame X is one of my favorite albums from her but MDNA ruins everything. Jose P 23,341
Honestly, all of her decades ,with the exception of the 2010s, were freaking amazing in their own ways. Madame X was fantastic and a true return to form, but this decade as a whole was underwhelming.

IAmNotHere1997 25,824
90s and I'm saying this just because those three studio albums are THAT solid and consistent. The 90s were pretty much an artistic peak too in my opinion.
