So proud as usual!

On a more somber note, I'm not surprised at the lack of PoC at this rally. And it's really unfortunate considering the history of Stonewall.

Even my late grandma is more alive than the crowd...

Great speech though, she looks so happy!

I am truly so proud to support and love this woman. I know that in many years to come, history will treat Gaga kindly... and I am thankful to be on the mothership whilst it is still sailing so strongly.

Unfortunately, a lot of the pride events over the past month associated with Stonewall or NYC in general have not had a very diverse audience. At least there were several Black and Latinx speakers and performers at this event, which is far better than it was in the past or some earlier pride events. But the mostly white crowd being super dead when Alicia was performing was...not a good look. The only thing I can think of is they tweaked the audio on the live stream, as they sometimes do, to keep down crowd noise.

It was a fantastic speech, but the radio station might get Gaga dragged for calling it "historic." Luckily, I don't think anyone but stans will notice the heading on the youtube video.

Gaga's been an activist for a long time and I also think in the future people who examine pop culture will look upon her very kindly. I remember her speaking out against DADT and for gay marriage, back when a lot of pop girls wouldn't even mention it.

Love this, and I love her. Love everything about this.

That said, as everybody has mentioned, it's weirdly glaring that the audience is so so not diverse, given the historical context of the Stonewall Riots and the roots of Pride. As a POC and as an activist, I look up to Gaga immensely, so it's a little funky to see the lack of Brown and Black faces in the crowd. It's a systemic factor, I'm sure.

I’m not there so I don’t know. I had to work. My friends are there. They are three Hispanics and two whites. They didn’t mention not seeing black people, but they said there were plenty of Non- Americans and Hispanics there. Maybe it’s not a priority for Black Gays to want to go to stonewall or see Gaga speak. I wish all gays could appreciate her and how much more she does for the community than most pop or Rnb stars.

We have to quit pretending that all gays are under one umbrella. In my city of Charlotte there is Pride, then there is black pride and now Latin Pride. White and Hispanic gays love to travel. Maybe that’s why they have the largest representation at NY pride.
