Why are taxes so high in the US anyway in relation to so few government services?

Canada corporate tax: 15%

USA: 21% (35% before Trump cuts)

 

USA 2018 Income Taxes:

 

$0 – $9,525 > 10%

$9,526 – $38,700 > 12%

$38,701 – $82,500 > 22%

$82,501 – $157,500 > 24%

$157,501 – $200,000 > 32%

$200,001 – $500,000 > 35%

$500,001 > 37%

Canada income taxes:

 

$47,630 and under 15%

$47,630 up to $95,259 > 20.5%

For really low earners rates are lower in US although we have more tax credits

 

For high earners taxes are lower in Canada

 

For middle class making $50,000 to $60,000 it's slightly lower in Canada but about the same in reality cuz we have to adjust for currency value

 

For upper middle class like $100,000 or a bit more clearly taxes are higher in Canada

 

It varies a bit by bracket but on the whole grand scheme of things not much different but we seem to get more Government programs than in the US.

Ur logic is EXACTLY the same as someone who can't afford their current lifestyle and puts it on credit and uses the rationale that they deserve to enjoy their lives

 

Yeah maybe they deserve it but unfortunately that doesn't change the reality

 

The system wasn't designed to accomodate so many retirees like this and it's a sustainability issue

 

We can't do nothing just because we don't want to or we shouldn't have to work longer.... Like that literally doesn't change the reality of the situation

Yes, most people in the current work force will jump around jobs. That doesn’t make them spoiled babies anymore than it makes them a spoiled baby after fifty years of working of wanting some time to enjoy life without work.

Yeah, I live well within my means and don’t drive up debt. I don’t go after the shiny new thing. 

Start saving now for retirement. The more money you can put back when you are younger, the younger you can retire. Save, save, and save some more!
