androiduser 7,438
I think that in the end it depends how the world will develop in the far future and if pop music will be regarded as important as it is now. Sure, our culture will be remembered, but in the common knowledge it will definitely be condensed and the 60's, 70's, 80's. 90's, the 00's etc will all probably blend together, and there won't be much distinction between the styles. (for example, I am sure that most people can't make out the subtle stylistic differences between, say, 1780 and 1790). So out of all the artists, actors, singers etc from our time, and the last 60+ years, I think only a handful will still be household names.

Just like Einstein and Isac Newton were highlight scientists of their centuries.... And just like Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson were highlight entertainers if their century.... I think Gaga will need to be the highlight of this era too in order to be remembered If she's not the biggest over these first decades of the 2000s in general she will only be remembered as long as children of parents who were around during Gaga's years are alive That would take the generational overlap to maybe the early to mid 2100s after that no one would know Gaga Unless again she is the highlight of this century After some thought, I want to revise my opinion a little bit. My statement is slightly irrelevant because (pretty much) all performers before the 20th century really had no way of recording their performances. People didnât have a favorite performer, they had a favorite composer. Consumption of media was different then. There really is no way of predicting longevity of modern legends because we donât know how recordings and other forms of media will stand the test of time. Iâm imagining the over-production of media will eventually be the downfall of old legends, just like how Ădith Piaf doesnât ring as many bells as someone like Taylor Swift. Not denying Ădithâs impact, but she has come and gone and many people have followed since. Theres no way of knowing how long people will remember Lady Gaga, obviously sheâll be remembered longer than Dua Lipa, but for how long?

Widows Kiss 7,818
I can already imagine edgy gays blasting Gaga, Katy and Rihanna in their spaceships in 100 years, stating that old music was so much better and that they were born in the wrong century..
