It's the rap music not the fact that a higher percentage of it's singers are black I mean presumably Eminem or Iggy Azalea would be banned just as equally? However I agree it's stupid. I can imagine a rival gay bar has set this stunt up and painted it racist. HOWEVER... This could have been done more effectively by celebrating dance pop instead of cutting rap, something like: "Hey guys, we're celebrating some of the best LGBTQ+ music and want to play some of the biggest DANCE POP bangers. Sometimes its an unspoken ban, sometimes its behind the scenes like this one was supposed to be. And the email said that if you played rap then you won't be asked back. But if the DJ was so ****ing great and the customers clearly wanted him to return, then do y'all think the management would really not ask them back? Also Progress isn't the only f*cking gay bar in Chicago. If y'all don't like this bar's policy, go to any of their competitors who probably have a similar policy that haven't been made public. They are all included in the ban. A lot of people have already echoed my thoughts on this, so I won't waste time writing out everything, but yeah, I just don't really see this as that big of a deal. But isn’t regular nightclubs doing the same as they refuse to play any kind of heavy metal or rock (a genre just like rap) , even if the customers request it?
