Trump admin’s war on climate science getting worse

In the next few months, the White House will complete the rollback of the most significant federal effort to curb greenhouse-gas emissions, initiated during the Obama administration. It will expand its efforts to impose Mr. Trump’s hard-line views on other nations, building on his retreat from the Paris accord and his recent refusal to sign a communiqué to protect the rapidly melting Arctic region unless it was stripped of any references to climate change.

And, in what could be Mr. Trump’s most consequential action yet, his administration will seek to undermine the very science on which climate change policy rests.

...

As a result, parts of the federal government will no longer fulfill what scientists say is one of the most urgent jobs of climate science studies: reporting on the future effects of a rapidly warming planet and presenting a picture of what the earth could look like by the end of the century if the global economy continues to emit heat-trapping carbon dioxide pollution from burning fossil fuels.

The attack on science is underway throughout the government. In the most recent example, the White House-appointed director of the United States Geological Survey, James Reilly, a former astronaut and petroleum geologist, has ordered that scientific assessments produced by that office use only computer-generated climate models that project the impact of climate change through 2040, rather than through the end of the century, as had been done previously.

So this administration will use science to explain why trans people don’t exist while undermining climate science at every turn since it does not align with their beliefs. Truly one of the worst presidents America has ever had :interestinga:

Be thankful. The post is hidden. We can still see it and the others :toofunny:

OT: it's supposed to hit 100°f this week in Florida. I think it might have today but I didn't check.

We need to get rid of this man and put someone in office (every office, not just the presidency) who understands how dire this is.

Whimsical bitch

Errr... current weather will not change with leadership....

But yeah, repealing Obama era restrictions isn't helping the environment...and otwill likely make things worse in the future

Meanwhile rain that we shouldn’t be getting in May here in California is ruining crops.

Ok 100f this week we can't say is a result of climate change or not

As we point out to climate change deniers who say it doesn't exist everytime it's cold. There's a difference between weather and climate

There have always been hot and cold temperatures and heat waves tho ppl now automatically make the connection with global warming when they feel a heat wave

Heat waves have always existed. The 1C and a bit that earth warmed up so far is hardly noticeable to humans in terms of the temperature itself. I think it's more in our heads cuz everytime there's heat waves we now think global warming

The bigger issue isn't what we feel it's what mother nature feels as a 1C to 1.5C increase in global temperatures is sufficient to alter some patterns in a way to severely damage the eco system

The biggest issue is actually changed in precipitation patterns (droughts and floods) and the warming ocean

So far the temperature itself on land isn't the biggest issue. It's more the impact it has on certain patterns
