I see some Monsters still feel personallyattacked by madonna. I recently started checking out her stuff, she has quite a few good songs and videos. Medellin is not for me but if I had to choose, Madonnas video, in my opinion, is better than Me! Even though both songs are completely different and are about different things.

Also, can I just express what a nauseating piece of 'journalism' this is? I mean, I don't mind stans on pop forums trying to figure out who has the biggest ****, but for a respectable publication, to pit successful women against each other like that feels very disconnected and insensitive.

You might say I'm being a snowflake and that it's not so serious, but that's the kind of articles that contributes to depicting a certain view of women and encourages the way society treats them.

The article is basically saying, as per the quote above, that Taylor should be setting the bar higher, but that she didn’t do that in this particular instance.

The fact that the article is putting Madonna and Taylor against each other is to say that while Madonna is 60 and delivered a good video, she was the one that “created the career framework for the modern pop star” and is now a legacy artist primarily, so the expectation would be for Taylor to do even better. 

It’s quite a fairly balanced article, but as I’ve come to realise, every opportunity is GGD to drag Madonna cannot be missed.

Im seeing a lot more negative reactions to Me! From even the Taylor stans at my job. It’s surprising. BUT YEAH both music videos I thought were AWESOME. Taylor’s was cool and madonnas was absolutely gorgeous

@Sanne GodijnI completely agree with you, and when such articles appear, we must challenge them, and not pit women against women. But stans immediately take a side, and use it as an opportunity to drag the artist they don’t like. Here’s an example:

@JFKThis quite a big generalisation you are making here, and it’s completely unnecessary to call others “old” and “lazy” and an artist “irrelevant”.

The problem is the article itself, and the pitting of women artists agains women artists. Attacking the other fanbase is just feeding the prevalent sexism and misogyny. Plus, if things don’t change and this type of ageist discourse continues, in a few years time you and me as Gaga fans will be called the “old” ones by the fans of a much younger and “relevant” artist. Everyone ages, so using age as an attack is just waiting for it to be used against you. 

I hope you understand my point, as I don’t mean this as an attack or anything of the sort.

For me, I enjoy Medellín more just because it’s conceptual and has a storyline to it, it’s more creative to me anyway. 

ME! Is probably more catchy in terms of the lyrics and tune. But the video is very basic in terms of creativity and storyline but it’s still good

Two completely different artists doing two completely different genres and videos why feel the need to compare 🤷🏻‍♂️
