Why Madonna Stans being messy like Taylors video and vocals easily outshine Madonna's auto-tuned wannabe spy video. How can you spy with one eye?

lmao I mean Taylor’s new song aint IT but this article seems to be written by a bitter Madge fan.

That Vegas shade and excusing her commercial failure besides touring reeks insecurity. I mean, sure Madonna might have some of the biggest tour grossings but you might also wanna look at Ms Swift’s number in that field before you decide to talk smack. :ohwell:

Madonna wanted to make an artistic video inspired by different cultures and by her favorite painters, Taylor wanted to make a fun colorful video to get the reputation image off, with hints about her new era for her fans. Both artists had very different intentions and they both succeed at doing what they wanted. Both videos are equally flawless imo.

Another salty old gay man who connected his life to his favs career, and can't get over the fact that she isn't the IT girl anymore.

Madonnas boring ass song with the pretentious MV was no where near Taylors song/MV.

I mean i agree. Madonna really delivered with the video and Taylor made a mess of colour. The song hurt my ears and the video hurt my eyes so many clashing colours. LWYMMD was iconic so it's a real down grade in my opinion.

You should take it easy with the generalisation.

If in 20 years time, a guy writes an article siding with Gaga, will the same rule apply? Or is just because it’s Madonna?

More on topic though, I think it's pretty ridiculous to compare both videos as they're so different in conception and in style.... I understand that the urge to compare is massive because these are 2 of the biggest pop female artists of all time, but in the end this is basically a question of taste.

If we're talking about a technical level, Taylor's video was richer and better executed (the overwhelming use of visual effects kinda requires this level of planning), while Madonna's video, albeit visually interesting and edgier, fell into the trap of most music videos that were planned and directed too quickly: the non-choreographed parts are all over the place.

In the end, I think they both delivered pretty decent offerings here, and I wouldn't want to put one over the other as there's no clear winner in this case. Once again, if you want indisputable perfection, just check FKA Twigs' latest. That should settle it.

Still, if Madonna invented the career framework for the modern pop star, she serves as useful ruler to compare others. It just doesn't bode well for our general cultural evolution that she's still the one leading the pack.

I don’t really understand why so many pressed stans responding against the article.

The article is basically saying, as per the quote above, that Taylor should be setting the bar higher, but that she didn’t do that in this particular instance.

The fact that the article is putting Madonna and Taylor against each other is to say that while Madonna is 60 and delivered a good video, she was the one that “created the career framework for the modern pop star” and is now a legacy artist primarily, so the expectation would be for Taylor to do even better.

It’s quite a fairly balanced article, but as I’ve come to realise, every opportunity is GGD to drag Madonna cannot be missed.

sorry not sorry, but I have to agree :vegas:

Taylor’s video was just bright poppy colors with a below average song imo. The video makes absolutely no sense but is just aesthetically pleasing:ohwell:

Yes. I've already clocked gaga in the recent thread about her vocals declining, I've clocked her team work on Joanne era and her poorly directed music videos. I'm not one of those who think gaga does no wrong.

In my opinion, a music video's purpose should always be an extension of the song it's promoting and should make the song even better.

To be completely honest, Madonna's video made her average song much more likeable and interesting.

Taylor's video made one of her most average lead singles seem try hard, chinsy, and quite frankly, a little annoying.

I've repeated Madonna's video multiple times. Honestly didn't think that would happen. And I didn't do that for Living for Love or Give Me All Your Luvin.

The opposite is true for Taylor. Shake it Off and Look What You Made Me Do's videos propelled the song up to be big pop events. This video, despite it's decadent color and rich visuals and budget, feels less like the vibrant Supergirl Taylor wants us to believe she is in pop culture, and more like melted Superman ice cream that sat out on a picnic table. It looks pretty, but no one wants it. And it's certainly not fresh in it's content.
