Grace Jones is MEAN.

Grace Jones discography is very wishy-washy, the only solid album from her is Bulletproof Heart but other than that she's a fashion icon, that should not be disputed.

Boy George, on the other hand, is a fad with no talent, he's a self-diagnosed diva who runs around acting like he's got an ounce of legacy status to his name when all he's known for is Karma Chameleon and wearing makeup at a time when he could have been lynched. He's just a boring Pete Burns. ZZZ

You lot really want everyone to like Gaga, huh? And sure love to paint her a as this, delicate victim (something you love so much, for some weird reason) when people she likes and gets ideas from don’t like her back. Neither Grace Jones nor any other trailblazer owe her anything. And Grace can call her whatever if that’s her view and is being asked about it, it’s called honesty.

Besides, Gaga has been mean to people who like her too, her remarks being indirect and high school-ish does not take away from the intention.

Who are you talking about?

This is probably old, as she originally said criticism of Gaga back in 2010, but this was when everyone was ragging on Gaga in 2010, but that's what makes it so much easier to take. So many people were threatened by Gaga back then, it was unreal. I remember Grace Jones, M.I.A, Joanna Newsom, Die Antwoord, etc. all throwing shots at her, saying she was unoriginal and superficial and all that. The funny thing is...where are all these artists today? If they had ever truly "made it" to begin with? When you're still around and being successful, leaving your detractors in the dust, that's when you know that it's most likely they were just misinformed and jealous.

I think people remember her image more than her music

"You think" however her music is known along with her image. :ohwell: And I'm no big GJ fan but even I can give the woman credit for her accolades and career.

I’m not denying those. Her music truly just flopped. But she’s a fashion icon.

I remember she and Katy’s little spat but they both made catty comments back and forth, they’ve since resolved it and are on good terms. You made it seem like she deliberately was mean to someone who never said anything bad about her (which Katy did).

What happened with Miley? Must’ve missed that one.

I don't think Gaga has ever been mean to Miley. Miley kinda shaded Gaga at the AMA's in 2013, but Gaga supported Miley when Miley did that VMA performance in 2013.

So did Gaga and Madonna at the Met Gala, or so it seemed, until Gaga reignited the argument in her Beats 1 Joanne album release interview with Zane Lowe and later on in her documentary, again. Which was interesting considering “Hey Girl” is one of the tracks from the album that she was promoting at the time.

She indirectly accused Miley Cyrus of copying her “Dope” look with the fake teeth, tweeting “Pop culture is my b*tch” accompanied with the Dope single artwork, minutes after Cyrus took said platform to promote her MTV: Unplugged episode using this image:

Once again, interesting timing when you take into consideration that she was pushing the “promote online kindness” movement, and “Goddess of Love” was her twitter username at the time she accused Cyrus of copying. Same with Perry, while knowing well that there was tension between her and Perry’s fan base. And to this day Gaga fans keep using variations of her tweet to accuse other artists/singers of copying Gaga. Her promote online kindness era spawned that out.

It’s especially unreasonable and hypocritical, when she claims to prefer when people bring out their issues face-to-face. She should have done that with Cyrus and Perry. In private.

She probably learned from it though, and it seems like Gaga realised that accusing people of “copying” when she herself is a throwback artist is not a good look. I was just pointing out how people here get so mad when someone is not fond of Gaga, saying how sorry they feel for her, and conveniently forgetting that she’s done the same in the past. As I said, indirectly but still, same intention.

I hear ya from a Gaga-fan perspective but I really love how subversive, outlandish and honest Grace Jones is.  I'd highly recommend digging a little deeper into her story through her documentary "Bloodlight and Bami."  It showcases her career, family history, her grit, work ethic, and her wicked sense of humor.

With the Gaga comments, perhaps Grace is coming from a different cultural and pop-music perspective. Plus, the socio-historical contexts are very different.  Pardon the expression, but "there's more than one way to skin a cat" when it comes to subverting pop and I think both Gaga and Grace have done it very well.
