Did Gaga ever use bots/payola?

I actually really don’t care because I think they all do it anyway. And if she did I don’t think she is the worst offender. (I honestly think there are times when she easily could have and maybe even should have and did not to be “authentic” while other artists ahem cough swift ahem used some of these algorithmic methods in their favor…especially starting around COVID when there was music industry insecurity (which is why I think Taylor suddenly went snowball crazy during folklore after Lover was met with mediocre reaction).) 

 

but seriously….do you think she ever did anything manufactured to get ahead? After she did Abracadabra as a credit card commercial and the nurtec stuff I began to think…maybe Michael convinced her to just start doing it. 
 

again this is not a post to claim she did or judge anyone that has done it. Reality is reality. I guess I am more curious if there is anyone delusional enough to believe that all of her marketing methods have been “purist” or organic and if not, to what extent do you think Gaga’s team uses algorithms compared to other artists? Is it ethical?

I mean across all metrics/platforms, her numbers are impressive, but too modest to suggest any bot activity. 
 

I do think labels pay to increase reach and engagement for songs/posts on social media, to help create viral trends. (The alarm TikTok that said “this sounds like gaga’s abracadabra” got millions of views a day or two before it even premiered during the Grammys to get hype) 
 

Unrelated to Gaga but katy perry’s team definitely used YouTube bots/extreme algorithmic push back in 2017. All her videos (old and new) were getting like 400-700million views that year, then suddenly the next year they all dropped off again. 
 

Bon appetit (the flop single) also randomly got like 10 million views one day in like 2019 out the blue for no reason

He most likely did radio payola but it was too early in the life of streaming for him to do it on streaming metrics. I’m sure there was a story of her giving gifts and tickets to big radio hosts back in the day lol

I mean she’s not had streaming payola at all because she had atrocious streaming numbers until 2017. Mostly because as a fanbase we only bought her music instead of streaming it. But as she got younger fans her streaming increased.

I think she has some radio deals here and there, but as someone mentioned above, her numbers are good, but not that extreme to think of a bot use

I'd be genuinely surprised if Just Dance & Pokerface didn't get some payola to help them take off. It was so normal back then and she had so much label backing, I'd be shocked if they didn't.

I don't think so considering she hasn't used bots for social media. It's obvious when you look at Katy Perry who has 195 million followers on Instagram that her label funneled money into bots. 

Gaga's success is genuinely organic overall.

the only thing close to that is when they made born this way 99 cents the first week and 400-500k of the first week sales were from those albums bought for 99 cents 

i think thats the only time her and her team have cheated or did something to drastically increase sales
