I doubt many people knew where New Zealand was or that Muslims were there either. But the response was very different and I'm not wrong for pointing out the complete double standard.

Anyway, multiple attackers have been identified (Islamist based group) and the death toll is 215 now. OP should help keep people informed and update that fact.

People knows New Zealand because they get the first releases of music, movies and video games and they leak them first :laughga:

Europe and especially the Vatican is very vocal about Christian persecution in other countries.

the Vatican is doing their job and it's a very tiny country, but I the common European or western is pretty ignorant about what's going on outside of their country or outside of Europe..

Several ethnic groups. The Middle East doesn’t only consist of Arabs.

No kidding.🙄🙄 Stop this please.

In the modern days you see this type of clothing mostly in the Gulf and North Africa. And it’s associated with Muslims, so don’t even.

There’s no really “dressing like Jesus” in modern Christian countries, so WTH does that even mean?

I don't know where you're from, but Germany and The Netherlands almost always report on what's happening outside of Europe. I'm Dutch and we talk about sad stuff like this.

I think it’s because it’s mainly a topic of the conservative parties.

You know, I don't understand the double standards in government actions on religions sometimes. Mosques and synagoges get extra security, but the churches don't (at least for most European countries). While we're dealing with a lot of terrorism lately.

The police and public figures go visit mosques that were attacked, but they don't go to churches (at least here in The Netherlands) that were attacked.

Talking about double standards, Fire in Notre Dame thread got 21 pages and fire in Al-Aqsa barely got 1 page. It happened on same day, way different coverage in the media too. Didn’t see the same members complaining. :oprah:

Maybe because the fire there was really minor? Only a mobile wooden guard booth was damaged. If it were a fire as the Notre Dame one it would have gotten way more media coverage.

For those who actually care about the dead and not their political division agendas:

An intelligence memo about the attacks had circulated for some days and authorities did nothing.

That’s infuriating.

Because if you break apart the word “news” it includes the word “new”.  Unfortunately attacks and devastation in Syria, Iraq, Yemen are nothing new and don’t make the news anymore.

I'm talking about deaths in the first place. I don't think you can compare buildings to people's lives.

This is the way of saying "don't go to church"; trying to keep people away from practicing their own religion. Same here and in New Zealand. :S

Notre Dame was empty and people were praying in Al-Aqsa, so even that excuse doesn’t make sense.

Nobody was hurt in either instance and Al-Aqsa was only very minorly damaged as compared to the entire roof of a World Heritage Site collapsing in. The coverage was different because there was so much more damage, obviously.

Which is why it's weird that when 215+ Christians are killed in Sri Lanka it garners very little press and will never be spoken of again by tomorrow but 50 Muslims were killed in NZ and that was a weeks long global event. I wish Christians got that same care and reverence.
