Inferno 2,880
Does anyone know if DarkChild has ever spoke on working with Gaga? Over the years shes alluded to there being tension making Telephone and him not really wanting her to record Telephone for herself, until she blew up and was able to get it back. Does anyone know where they stand? Or is it all anyones guess.. Note: They have not worked together since Telephone and all songs they had recorded together were intended for other artists. jacs vs looser 4,154
They did work together afterwards, no? for Hypnotico and Invading my Mind by JLo. Which would mean they are probably fine with each other.

It was a convoluted and confusing situation, I'll do my best Please anyone correct me if I get anything wrong 1. Gaga and RedOne write Judas 2. Some lady sues Gaga saying she stole Judas from her (this case was eventually dismissed ) 3. During this lawsuit opposing counsel get text messages between Gaga and RedOne. 4. Basically, Gaga had heard Invading My Mind, which RedOne had done for JLo and freaked out because she thought it sounded too much like Judas. She asked RedOne to change the song or credit her on Invading, so that if people noticed any similarity she could say she had worked on both. (I'm sure Madonna comparisons were in her mind). RedOne gives her the credit. 5. The people from the Judas lawsuit try to use these texts as evidence that Gaga is willing to take things/credits that aren't hers, or whatever. In reality though she was basically saying to RedOne "hey, that work you did sounds a lot like the work WE did, please credit me". 6. Then DailyMail (I think) gets ahold of the texts and writes a dumb story So ANYWAY... yeah I think she really did write Hypnotico though?
LilyLark 10,072
I never thought there was any messiness between them, but wasn't there allegedly some drama between Akon and Darkchild even though they worked together a few times? Why do I remember this type of ish lol? Akon's always spoken really well of Gaga and was even interviewed for the anniversary of Just Dance not that long ago. He was also the one who signed Gaga to his imprint for Interscope after she was dropped by Def Jam, and they produced/wrote several songs together. And Gaga stayed with his imprint all the way up until Interscope temporarily yanked him because of his legal trouble. I always (making a big assumption) thought she must have some loyalty for him or fought for him at Interscope when he was having trouble, because he's gone out of his way to be very complimentary of her. It's pretty common for songwriters to be pressured to give their songs up to "bigger" talent. My guess is that is what happened between Gaga and Darkchild, and not some big drama. But I wouldn't be surprised if she sounded awkward talking about him because she would side with Akon, obvs, if there was drama between those two men. I know Intererscope basically did away with his imprint when he had legal trouble but then brought him back, but Gaga was part of his imprint all the way through BTW so it seems like she holds some loyalty to him. Oh interesting, so it may have been more about her loyalty to Akon (at least at that time) than any kind of drama with Rodney. That would make sense tbh. Although, I doubt she'd hold the same loyalty to Akon now seeing as he publically stated he jumped her ship before it truly sank. I know he regrets his choice of words and being involved business wise with her as I watched that interview as well where he like...speaks highly of her and regrets having f*cked over their bond, but im sure she was hurt by his sentiment nevertheless. Because Akon saying that in 2013 just kind of added to the media scrutiny she was already facing during the ARTPOP rollout.

I absolutely suspect any awkwardness (and I never really thought there seemed to be drama, just some awkwardness) was due to her loyalty to Akon and his alleged long running tension with Darkchild. Darkchild and Akon stopped working together right when Akon had those troubles with Interscope, too. Even after the comment about ARTPOP (which he defn. regrets, because I know he's said very kind things more than once post ARTPOP), I wouldn't be surprised if Gaga still had some loyalty for Akon, although not as much as before, because he was the once who brought her to Interscope, got her a meeting with Vince, and didn't try to pressure her to give up her songs (which is so common)... So it wouldn't have mattered since the original version of the song came along way before JLo needed songs.

But she was working with Darkchild a couple of years before he made that comment, so at that time her loyalty was obvs. with Akon.
freebit 6,221
She still seemed real annoyed at him over Telephone in 2011, at least going by her interview with that guy who runs Popjustice. Maybe how the issue was handled pissed her off enough to not want to work with him again.
