So Recently I’ve been seeing a lot of love for ARTPOP everywhere I look. For example, this viral tweet:

A lot of my friends gave a listen to ARTPOP after watching ASIB and told me it truly deserved better than be labeled as a failure.

So in your opinion, was ARTPOP mistreated upon release and deserved much more? Discuss.

i think it some ways it was, but in others it was actually kind of dated sounding by the time it had come out.

for instance aura, incredibly forward and to this day seen as controversial for no reason. or her idea to have a whole visual album before most pop artists would even think to do so.....:cough:

btw that michael jackson reference did not age well lmao

YES!! I have been preaching this since 2013. It’s literally so amazing and you all let it flop. I literally bought 3 copies for myself and gifted like 7 to friends. I put blood sweat and tears into trying to save this holy album!!!

Yes, and deserved better :nails:

I think publicity goes a long way but also the "main pop girl" debate will always rage on so there were alot of factors contributing to it not selling more.

If it was ahead of its time surely it would sound modern and fresh now? I like the album but it sounds a bit dated, so no.

Smother Em Eh

In concept and message, yes. In sound, no. It was outdated by the time it came out.

But it is slept on tho.

I would use the terms 'underappreciated' and 'misunderstood'.

VOLANTIS

The complete opposite. The album had sounds the GP got over in 2012.
