I’m not trying to argue with you but I have seen several posts since I’ve joined GGD where that has been the case. In this thread specifically, “white supremacy kills Jews,” implicitly implies that there is only white supremacy & that it kills Jews from my interpretation. My broader point is that there is a way to advocate for minority groups without a framework designed to suggest white people as a group are racist. And when we have conversations where that is the case, it increases the tensions and puts the focus on racism from a white persons perspective and takes away the valid concerns of POCs needs and reason to sit at the table for equality. It was not stated explicitly that it’s only white supremacy; however, with lack of context in the comment & my anecdotal experience on GGD that’s what i interpret it as. 🙂 At any rate, most of GGD agree on the morality regarding the subject even if we disagree on either the wording or all of the symptoms. Believing that one's race is better than other races, especially with violent means, is bad. And dangerous. I don't understand the controversy behind this? Additionally, this thread is about a white supremacist that wanted to kill a group of Jews. Saying that white supremacy kills Jews, because it does, is not controversial. If this were a thread about white supremacists trying to murder blacks, this same conversation would still be happening. I'm not trying to argue, but rather get this point across. My point is that when threads like this are made, we should be less focused on making wide generalizations about white people and white supremacy and more focused on what we can do to advocate for those affected by white supremacy. Because, it’s going to exist in some fashion regardless of how we feel about it. What we can do is be advocates for POC and Jews and other minorities to make doubly sure they are in fact welcome in this country and that they are entitled to feel safe in this country (as well as the world but I’m focused on the US in this conversation). Anyway, it’s a sensitive topic and this is all I’m going to say about it because I don’t want people to have the impression that I don’t think white supremacy is an issue.
