If Lorde and Halsey had a baby, and the baby only sang in a whisper, and it was adopted by Marilyn Manson = Billie Eilish.

All jokes aside, my sister, who has always had great tastes in music, was raving about Billie the other night. When I went to bed, I popped in my headphones and listened to the whole album. The music itself definetely continues down the trend road of being overly chill hip hoppish, with a sinister vibe to it.  Her vocals are why I can't get into it. Her tone and volume is extremely low. In fact, there is nothing vocally she is brining to the table, accept a very muted sound. Almost too low to be emotive. I think that is a problem for people seeking out more soulful, meaningful music. She will be popular for a short time,  but people will grow tired of that sound. I could totally see her having the same initial success that Lorde had. Weird, quirkly, Witchy, theatre kid vibes to both of them .

In her EP she had a different tone.

I doubt she’ll “fade” quickly seeing as she’s only gone up and up in 2 years.

Maybe for people who only heard of her last week but for everyone else she’ll always have our attention.

Congrats to her but I can’t help but feel underwhelmed by her...I like her album a lot but I think there’s too much hype surrounding her

I mean, who's really surprised? Production of the songs is INSANE. And the depression laden tracks cannot be more millenial. I like a handful of songs, and I can see the appeal of the disturbed mind singing in a very soundscape way. It's trippy but really pleasant to the ears.

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊
