Born This Way defined a generation. It was out there, pure honesty. Following the song, a lot of artists tried to be Social Justice Warriors. I'm glad Gaga is tagged as an activist than SJW.

Gaga may not have the biggest sales but she definitely has four iconic songs from the first decade of her career. Poker Face is probably one of her most widely loved and the song that put her on the map, Bad Romance is synonymous with Gaga at this point, Born This Way is iconic to almost the whole gay community and will be remembered as THE gay anthem for decades, Shallow is one of the biggest movie/musical soundtrack songs of our generation and will be remembered as such. Our girl really did THAT.

For me there are 4 songs equally important.
Poker Face, it cemented her place as an important pop star, prooved she isn't just a one hit wonder.
Bad Romance, she started to show her wild side, genius lyrics, and her power to release iconic stuff. It had huge impact on the music industry and it introduced her as a superstar, not just a pop star that release cute bops
Born This Way, it introduced Gaga's message of tolerance and self love which is one of the things that matter the most to her to this day
Shallow, the fact that this became a huge hit is a triumph and a personnal victory for her imo. She went through very hard years but Shallow and everything around it (the movie, soundtrack, acclaim etc...) were a total success and it's like a sweet revenge to everything bad that happened to her

For me, "most important" does not equal "favorite", it does also not equal "best". All 3 are different. 

With that said:

1. Born This Way- It saved lives- Plain and simple. Helped usher LGBTQ acceptance in this nation. A rallying cry.

2. Bad Romance- Solidified her as a legend and is becoming known as one of the best pop songs of all time. Era defining. 

3. Shallow- Brought her back into the mainstream with her first number #1 hit in years. Setting the tone for her to carry huge success into the next decade.
