I didn't read the whole discussion you had with Vegas. When It comes to background vocals though your argument is even weaker. Timbaland alone was doing this since the 90's with Missy Elliot and Aaliyah and have you ever heard of something called the 80's? Weird background noises and adlibs were the IT thing then and started to have a comeback in the early 90's. Britney just never was an innovator in pop music and she doesn't have to be. She had an amazing career and no one can ever take this from her. Why do people try to credit her for things she neither did nor actually revolutionized.

As I thought. So many examples right? Timbaland was a main producer on Blackout. And no sorry I’ve never heard of The 80s so if they did use these methods and it I influenced music I missed it...did they even chart?

Missy and Aaliyah are known for distinctive sounds and as far as I know remained distinctive to them only? But ok.

you quoted yourself btw so I didn’t see an alert for the quote. FYI

Sorry for quoting myself. I was in a bit of a hurry.

Timbaland produced nothing and wrote nothing for Blackout. I used Missy and Aalihya to prove that mainstream female artists from the  90's have already used these techniques that you accredited to Britney.

Listen to the bridge of Maniac from the Flashdance movie.

Spoiler

If you think that weird noises and background vocals were revolutionized or even invented by Britney you're sorely mistaken

This is in response to many who say that Britney's Blackout (2007) was not that influential and was just a natural extension from Loose and Futuresex/Lovesounds

Blackout was revolutionary and shaped pop for the 2010s and probably also for the future pop.

Futuresex/Lovesounds is just a Thriller rip off

I think they meant as in the music of the 1980’s years

I love Britney and her music, for a long time she was my 2nd to Gaga, but she barely ever writes and produces, I really don’t think she’s there for an album creating process. She really has whole album produced for her and she just provides the vocals. Haters love to say that she’s and industry puppet but on some level she truly is. Her debut image and sound though is definitely impactful, just by looking at the amount of one-hit wonder Britney wannabes that came after that. Also Blackout was really a trendsetter, pushing EDM into the pop music landscape.

For her defense she proved that she could write and produce (Everytime) and also she had some Mona Lisa album in the works that was supposed to be her Lemonade but it ultimately got scrapped by the label and apparently it led to her public meltdown we all know about.

On Toxic, it’s a pop music staple, but yeah, it was even offered to Kylie Minogue first before her. It may helped other artist incorporating electronic elements in their music but not wide-scale as hip hop and r&b were mire influential genres.

I wouldn’t say Loose is electro pop, more like pop with hiphop influences, and truly the reason why Madonna jumped into the trend and made Rotten Candy.

LOL YEP!!!! Hard Candy was trend hopping at the time as a fact. It was her attempt to chase Britney's "Blackout", Nelly's "Loose" and Timberfake's "Futuresex" . But, lets face it, M was probably the first one doing electro pop with COADF, i guess.

Firstly: Britney neither wrote nor produced Toxic. Two of the other singles flopped horribly and Everytime is not electro-pop.  Britney just never represented electro-pop with In The Zone. Also because it wasn't very good. Quality and lasting impact of the record are two very important things and In The Zone had neither.

I really like Britney but In The Zone is all over the place quality-wise which is why it had little to no staying power.

Okay but to say that ITZ is not quality record and that it’s doesn’t have longevity is such a false statement. Sorry but ITZ is objectively good record and it would be HUGE if they didn’t ban her from the radio at the time. It managed to be big at the time even with her radio ban. Media hated on her because she lost her good girl image and she still managed to make a successful record. I agree that it’s not electro pop but to say that it’s not good and that it doesn’t have longevity is kinda false.
