That recession was literally the worst since the depression of 1929-1933 There were several recessions in between that weren't as bad Actually Canada had a recession just 3 years ago after oil prices fell (our biggest export) but it was so mild that if people didn't listen to the news they wouldn't even be aware of it... It didn't really affect the Country or jobs as a whole much. A recession by definition is 2 consecutive quarters (6 months) of economic contraction no matter how small it is Some recessions are mild pullbacks.
