I know the video was released late, but that should've secured only more longevity. Omg, that always throws me off too. I feel like Gaga was managed badly even back then but we didn't notice it as much because she was smashing regardless. Imagine if she had Katy's TD team during 09-11. Eight back to back #1s. I think they just didn't focus on the US. Katy wasn't as big WW like Gaga while Gaga wasn't as big in the US. They had different priorities. She smashed despite all of this, which is why her team started to panic during ARTPOP. They didn't expect Gaga to ever have to work for her success. She changed her entire team afterward and suddenly the ideas were much smaller but also more competently executed.

Swallow 12,052
But they had to push LoveGame pretty hard, right? I mean it spent 10 weeks in the top 10 and was #1 on Pop radio. Paparazzi deserved to be the 3rd single and that was the 1st major mistake of Gaga's management. Second one was not releasing a 4th single off TFM and performing it at the '10 VMAs. Third one releasing Judas instead of TEOG as the 2nd single. Es solo una paja entre colegas

I actually think Starstruck should have been the third single. Flo Rida was hot back then, it would have been a surefire #1. Isn't it like Gold even though it's just an album track? I also feel like Bad Romance killed Paparazzi's chart run which could have climbed in the top 5 for sure.

Monster should've also been the fourth single of TFM. Judas should've lived a shelf life and stayed on the album. DWUW should've never been released, while Gypsy really needed to be released. C2C was perfectly managed. Joanne not so much ASIB was managed like heaven

Starships & SuperBass are also pop songs released during the time pop music was at its peak. Right now pop music is dead and rap is dominating so of course Cardi's rap singles aren't as big as Nicki's pop singles outside the US. Using the "global" argument is useless when it comes to rap artists. They don't even care about the world outside the US I don't get this rap/pop argument. Obviously, Starships and Superbass are pop songs, but it doesn't change the fact that they are MILES bigger. They were huge hits in Europe. Cardi B is basically N/A there.
