So far, it has spent 4 weeks in the top 10 of the hot 100. This metric shows the stability and staying power of a song, so it certainly matters. Applause spent 14 weeks. BTW spent 9. It would make a buzz around the song again, people would like to hear the more upbeat version of the hit single, streams and sales would increase and probably airplay too (imagine the new, fresh, pop version of Shallow being played on the radio. Nine weeks like Born This Way will be harder, but not impossible. It depends on how long radio keeps staying on board.
