Anyone else disappointed by the Oscar performance?

I think it was a great performance. It lacked the glam and fun of Grammy performance but Oscars are a different kind of show and we expected this.

I think her voice sounded good, especially in the pre-chorus since she struggled to hit the notes there lately but the fact that her voice cracked worries me, did her voice ever crack live?  Cracks are always a sign that something vocally isn't right. I wish she would stop smoking. :ohno:

Finally someone said it.

Every time I watch the VMAs were she sang BTW for the first time in her acceptance speech, my heart breaks a little because her voice was so full and powerful back then.

Who convinced her to start smoking again? :interestinga: (I'm fully blaming someone else because I never blame Gaga)

She’s not performed Shallow live well a single time. Grammys were off pitch like 30% of the time, Oscars 40%. You guys might think this is good but no way she goes to Broadway with this, especially when aiming for a Tony. She will be critically panned. That’s the unpleasant truth.

I imagined myself entering the stage straight from my seat to perform and decided to shut up.

A friend who is in Helsinki currently called last night after watching the performance on the news, so the hype is real!

Her voice wasn’t in tip top shape but overall the performance was wonderful and the GP loved it as well - let’s keep it there! Oh girl did wonderfully and is celebrating. We should be celebrating too - even the triumphant performance!

I completely agree with the OP - I was pretty dissappointed myself when I first saw the performance live. It was not Gaga's best vocal performance at all - the roar was ****ed up and she cracked on the final chorus. Bradley was pretty off-key the entire time. When someone performs The Sound of Music to near perfection I was expecting that same level of perfection for her own song - so yeah it was a bit of a shock that she didn't nail it.

Thankfully their chemistry did offset those negatives. And as for the people hounding others for making these critiques - get the f*** over yourselves - these are genuine criticisms that anyone is allowed to make. The performance was not vocally impressive - facts are facts. Show this performance to any vocal coach and they will name all the same things we outlined. I'm happy she won and it did not take away from her night. That being said I won't be revisiting this performance nearly as much as I revisit her Sound of Music or even Till It Happens to You performance since those are simply superior vocally.

yeah her voice cracked/had some weirdness belting the biggest note in the bridge. That was kind of disappointing. Couple other times it stuttered too. But the emotion was there and I loved the overall performance!

The first chorus was P E R F E C T. The second not so much in termes of repeating the studio version, but I'm almost sure that she did that on purpose, to "rock" the song a little bit.

I mean I now get why Bradley just wanted to do it once. But the emotions where there and it got everyone else from the GP being really into it and seeing their chemistry so

Leave it to the little monster to hate Gaga and everyone around her... Some of you are real MONSTERS

I've got an "F" and a "C" and I got a "K" too And the only thing that is missing is a bitch like "U"

I loved it! Did anyone catch that the performance was filmed how the movie was? I remember Bradley saying in the movie he wanted all the performances to be shot from viewpoint of the stage. That's pretty cool that they did it for the Oscar performance and really shows how unique that idea was.

It's not that obvious. You're just being critical. She still sounds better than most of the girls in the industry. Sure it's not perfect. But it's close to perfection.

Can you guys stop being so negative? This is why we can't have nice things. I'd like to see ANY of you do it better. Thankfully the GP has better taste than a lot of you. The performance was AMAZING!

Lol this "unpleasant truth" is 100% unsolicited and pointless bordering hateful :rip:Like, no one's saying she's going on Broadway singing such a vocally intensive song like she does on an awards show which is vastly different from doing a musical. If she's doing that, homegirl's gonna practice a lot/better her already superior technique, like how she did with the Sound of Music tribute, and acclimate herself with the environment she's gonna perform in, which is something you'd never be able to do in one-time award shows. Saying that she will be critically panned with such finality is so stupid :rip:
