I'll just leave this here

Reality shows that socialist economies, with few or no free market policies at all, bring the country into economic and social collaps real quick.

see Venezuela, Cuba, Socialist Republic of Romania, Union of Soviet Socialist Republic, Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, People's Republic of Bulgaria, People's Socialist Republic of Albania, Polish People's Republic etc.

Well good thing no one in the US is asking for a socialist economy.

We want Scandanavian-like public programs. They are still capitalist countries.

Don’t think a Latin American country who elected a corrupt communist is comparable.

Socialism is a broad term. Socialism is also at work in European countries that are doing perfectly fine.

What Americans call Democratic Socialism (and that's what they want) is better termed as Social Democracy in Europe and it's not incompatible with capitalism. It's simply modified to include socialist elements. And it works.

Also, quoting Margaret Thatcher here is not the best idea :what: She's almost as bad as Reagan (who started the wave of deregulatory disasters that led to the 2008 crisis that caused people to lose houses AND lives - which is what happens when you start moving towards a pure capitalism).

Give us one example of where socialism has brought enormous amounts of wealth to a country like capitalism has. I'm waiting patiently for you to say countries like Norway, Sweden and Finland so i could clock you on that. :triggered:

Go ahead.

Capitalism and socialism aren't incompatible but pure capitalism and socialism are. We know what happens when capitalism is left unchecked. It leads to too-big-to-fail corporations owning everything and destroying workers (cronyism) as well as reckless practices that lead to financial crises like the 2008 disaster.

The way that the US economy recovered after the Great Depression in the 1930s was exactly through socialist programs and taxing the rich. There's already socialism in place in America. Quit the fear mongering.

Exactly, however Democrats are not making that clear to Americans. They are becoming more and more anti-capitalism which is worrying. They are not promoting the ideology of a hybrid economy which is capitalist with socialist undertones. This is why i won't vote for a democrat that promotes socialism without making it clear that capitalism will still be in the forefront. This is our economy we're talking about, and we shouldn't experiment with a concept that has never worked in a country of our status in terms of population especially. .

It would be delusional to think that it's possible to do something anti capitalist in America.

Dems who advocate for socialism are really Social Democrats. Democratic Socialist is a bit of a misnomer. Through their platforms, it is clear what they really stand for and they are not against capitalism. They are mostly against cronyism, for example by pharmaceutical companies. They are in favor of regulation. Single payer Healthcare isn't anticap.

Hybrid socialism has worked in the US. You are wrong when you say "has never worked." Medicare and Medicaid already exist. Highly subsidized state colleges already exist and only because of them are so many able to afford college. There was similar fear mongering about it when these programs first came into place but they (along with taxes) only helped the economy recover from the Great Depression.

Do you know how we recovered from the 2008 crisis? Obama administration's regulation. Under Trump, the recovery has continued but not accelerated even though he's been claiming credit since Day 1.

You should probably understand that this is not the 1930s where the US was the ONLY strong country in the world. We live in 2019 and both China and India is expected to outgrow our economy. What does that mean, you tax the rich 70% and they will move all their assets and monies to countries like emerging superpowers (India and China) and our economy will crash. Again this is 2019. The US has stiff competition in every sector of our economy. We won't win this taxing the rich 70%.

These Nordic countries are heavily capitalist with socialist undertones because they have SMALL POPULATIONS and can afford it. The US does not have a small population which immediately puts us at a disadvantage. Education and Infrastructure as well as effectively stimulating entrepreneurship and job growth is most important in my opinion. Healthcare is something you have to tackle Big Pharma companies and that will never happen because both the republicans and democrats (who's now socialist apparently) are funded by these people during campaigns. So we will always have a healthcare problem in this country, because politicians on both sides are equally corrupt.

You are right on this, i take that back. What i should say is that it won't work now as i explained with the China especially competing with the US now.

Also remember, that it's because of Obama's regulation, he doubled our national debt in 8 years. He just blew another bubble for us when it bursts it will be another presidents problem. Love him still though, since it's cause of him i'm making money on the stock market today.
