Gimme More 35,393
One of television's most beloved and celebrated families will soon go their separate ways after ABC announced that "Modern Family" has been renewed for an 11th and final season. "Will be hard to say goodbye. Love my family," star Jesse Tyler Ferguson said on social media. Tuesday's announcement marks the end of an era that began in 2009. At the time of its premiere, "Modern Family's" portrayal of blended families and same-sex partners was groundbreaking, especially for a broadcast network. Its fresh approach to the family comedy and sharp humor did not go unnoticed. In its time on air, the show garnered 21 Primetime Emmy Awards (including five for outstanding comedy series), multiple SAG Awards and a Peabody. "For 10 years, our characters have bravely faced turning points in life and moved through them to great personal enrichment; we have chosen a different path by doing one more season of 'Modern Family,'" joked co-creator and executive producer Christopher Lloyd in a statement. The final season is set to air in 2020. i'm so sad it's ending!
rojo 560
Although I'm gonna miss it this is the best way to go. A proper last season with a finale is better than just being cancelled. Not all shows are that lucky

nodandsmile 10,726
I will miss this series, a lot of laugh out loud moments but it's good to know when to stop. Sometimes shows stay on air longer than they need to be to the point you'll end up hating it (ex. The Vampire Diaries, imo)
NewUsername 11,438
Thought this 10th season was already going to be the last, so another season comes as a gift.
Thomas P 18,479
I’m actually sad the shows almost done. I literally grew up watching this show, so I feel so attached to it I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

Gimme More 35,393
i agree with you all above, it is nice that they can properly 'send the show off' and give it a proper ending. It seemed like the end was near but still sad that it has been confirmed! two of my favourite shows ending Modern Family & Criminal Minds

huttont 5,341
Good show but it’s been going downhill so I’m glad they are giving it a proper finale. Wrap it up before it gets abandoned. Congrats to them on a great show that lasted a long time!

It was a tough year, it was like saying goodbye many times to the people I've been stalking their lives for many years So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy
DiscoHeaven23 35,007
While the show got progressively worse each year (though this season has brought some more drama, which makes it better), it was a moment in pop culture in its early years. i remember when they first started doing promo for it in 2009, before it premiered and thinking how foreword thinking the show was. It was so massively popular back then. I think, like a lot of shows, as the kids grow up, it harms the show. Once the kids stop being cute and start being awkward adult actors, it really harms the show. Manny, Luke and Lily all falll into this box. The actresses that play Hayley and Alex actually turned out to be good actresses. but another thing that harmed it was the repetitive comedic formula of every episode. nonetheless, it will be an end of an era when this ends, and I’ll miss it. It was part of the beginning of an era in 2009, when liberalism was taking control. Obama, Lady Gaga and this show all started that year.
