PunkTheFunk 124,496 Posted February 8, 2019 Share Posted February 8, 2019 Since the Grammys began in 1959, only three songs have won the two big Grammys (Record of the Year and Song of the Year) plus the Oscar for Best Original song. These were Moon River in 1962, Days of Wine and Roses in 1964, and My Heart Will Go On in 1999. Shallow could potentially be the fourth song to achieve this honor if it manages to pull off wins in the two big categories this Sunday. But it would still be historic, because it would make Gaga the first woman to achieve this. The three songs mentioned were all written by men. But wait, there's more! If Shallow manages to do a clean sweep at the Grammys (4 awards -- ROTY, SOTY, Visual Media, and Pop Duo) and we're only counting the prestigious awards (Oscars, Grammys, and Globes), Gaga will become the most awarded singer/songwriter for a single song. By the end of awards season, she would have won an Oscar, 4 Grammys, and a Golden Globe for Shallow. The late James Horner (writer of My Heart Will Go On) almost achieved this in 1999. MHWGO also won 4 Grammys, but only three of them went to Horner -- the other went to Celine Dion for Best Female Pop Vocal. Will Gaga win ROTY and make history?
