StrawberryBlond 15,565
I think it was inappropriate of Tomi to make that joke. At the end of the day, he's obviously got roots here and being deported will break ties with those he knows in America. But why is it that the black community is so protective over people they don't even know? What part of illegal immigration don't they understand? He purposely outstayed his visa when he should have renewed it or looked into becoming an official citizen. He lied and said he was born in Atlanta. As ICE said "his entire persona is false." He lied and he didn't follow legal protocol. What is there to defend here? I don't know why you'd be protective of someone you don't know and doesn't affect you just because they're part of your community. Cardi obviously defended him because he featured on her album but Bartier Cardi wasn't even a hit. In fact, he's not had any hits of his own. I don't get why there's any form of campaign to protect him. I just don't see this type of jumping to the defence of literally any other kind of person who's deported. I really wish certain members of the black community would stop defending illegal activity. It makes them look really bad. And aren't any of them annoyed at the fact he lied to everyone? I know I would be. And Cardi really needs to stop treating conservative women badly just because she disagrees with them. If she's the feminist she claims to be, she should ease back on this. Save the insults for those who have said or done something unspeakably offensive instead of just a bad joke. You don't call a woman a dog. That shouldn't need to be said. On 2/4/2019 at 8:01 PM, hankhatesyouall said: Look how certain GGD users vehemently support violence against a woman if she's white and conservative. Exactly. As a woman and a feminist myself, I find it very disturbing. I'm white and I may not be conservative but I have had some thinking that some may call inspired from conservative ideology and I have said that some of these conservative commentators make good points, so it disturbs me on a somewhat personal level too. But even when I disagree, I never abandon my feminist principles and resort to calling women names or condoning violence against them. That goes against every feminist principle I stand for. Being a feminist doesn't mean that you have to support every woman but it does mean that you have to show a certain level of respect at all times for womanhood and a woman's right to speak her mind without getting dragged over the hot coals. See what I said above regarding showing a basic level of respect for women at all costs. I find it highly hypocritical when a so-called feminist seems to think it's ok to lead a hate campaign against certain women who have merely spoken their opinion, just because they happen to disagree. The whole point of feminism was so that women had the right to say what they want so it's highly ironic to claim you support that right but then only respect that right when women you like exhibit it. May I add that Hilary Clinton made a point of saying that Trump wasn't fit to be president because he's called women slobs, pigs and dogs. I'm sure you agreed with that, right? So, why are you supporting Cardi calling a woman a dog? I don't think you realise the irony here. 23 hours ago, Varys said: He is from the uk would you or Tommi have the same reaction if Adele was deported back I'm from the UK and Adele has got a legal living arrangements in the US and she never claimed to be a US citizen. Everyone knows she's British born and bred so any visa complications would be called out immediately. 21 Savage didn't follow legal protocol and claims to be an Atlanta native. Totally different. But yes, even in this case, no, I wouldn't care. A celebrity's life doesn't affect mine. I don't care about the race of someone involved, the plain fact is that you've got to live somewhere legally. There's a weird belief that anyone opposed to illegal immigration only dislikes it when it's non-whites doing it. Wrong. Some people just respect the law. Why is that a bad thing? Trolls are anonymous people whose faces we never see who exist purely online to get everyone's backs up. Just because you don't agree with Tomi (for the record, not saying I do either), doesn't make her a troll. There are liberal trolls as well, you know. Are they not allowed any respect either? If you think the only people who should be respected for free speech are those you agree with, then you don't support free speech at all. If anyone wants to disagree with her, they'd be better off using facts and acting adult and respectful as opposed to responding with childish insults. It only serves to make liberals look intolerant, childish and rude. That's one of the major reasons why so many liberals are switching sides, because they can't deal with what liberals have become. Reminds me of the kids who never tried hard at school who thought I was weird for writing more than a one word answer to a question. How exactly was I supposed to answer sufficiently if I restricted myself? Doesn't matter if it wasn't meant for me either, I thought I could add a good point to it. Don't be so sure. To most people, they view illegal immigrants as all the same. It's all the same crime, it doesn't matter what colour skin the person has. And no need to get all sassy on me. 9 hours ago, Whispering said: He’s also a DACA recipient. He was brought to the US at age seven and his parents overstayed their Visa. When he became an adult, he should have contacted the appropriate authorities to take into account his new situation. Whether he has children born in the US or not doesn't matter. All that matters is the person who's there illegally. It also doesn't matter how rich you are or how much you pay into the economy. No one should be above the law just because they're a rich celebrity. I'm pretty sure any other administration would have reacted the same, or at least should have. May I add that, watching interviews with the guy, I am blown away by what a fake he is. He pretends to have a full-on Southern accent and he's even dropping black American turns of phrase like "wit it," "thang" and saying "they" instead of "their." Fair enough if that's a persona that he wants to use when he raps but doing it while talking is a different matter. He's clearly been trying to pretend to everyone around him that he was born in the US and came from the Atlanta streets. I thought the rap game was all about being real. I thought they'd drag him for this. And who else has he lied to? Probably the mothers of his children. I'd be willing to bet even they don't know their own father's backstory, which is very sad. I'd be furious if someone in my inner circle lied to me like this. I don't see why no one's bringing this up.

Yeah, because liberals have never made offensive statements for attention either. Cardi doesn't represent liberals? She is one. She makes liberal statements all the time on a public platform, so of course she represents them. Why is it when a conservative does something bad, they represent all conservatives but liberals doing something bad don't represent all liberals? Self interest at work, there. Of course how politicans express themselves are the ones we should be taking note of. But I wasn't talking about people switching sides to support Trump or the current administration, just deciding to be more ideologically conservative. I'm still a liberal but I now have more views that some may call conservative. Not as far as supporting Trump or any conservative blindly, but just having different ideas and maybe realising they're not all bad. I realise it was wrong to label all conservatives as evil when I started listening to what they had to say and respecting them a bit more. A true liberal should always be interested in seriously listening to the other side and taking it all in respectfully and maybe even saying they've made a good point or two. Save blanket judgements of entire groups of people for the far right.

Anyone who makes their political stance clear is representing that political stance, whether they're a politician or not. I've seen many liberals label and judge a citizen for being conservative when they do something they disapprove of. Clearly, most of us believe your political stance partly represents you. I'm pointing out that you seem to hold all conservatives accountable for their actions but give liberals a free pass. True, it is weak-minded to actually vote all the way, especially blindly. I'd never vote for a conservative as extreme as Trump and I know there were conservatives who didn't for the same reason. But I don't think there's much wrong with supporting the conservatives in the UK, where I'm from. Every party's gone down the pan lately, they're no better or worse, it's all about what policies you value. But yeah, you make a good point with the Obama example. But on that kinda note, I think a lot of liberals would totally support a celebrity endorsement for the Democrats. I must add that I saw some liberals suggesting that they should put forward a celebrity to run for Democrats in 2020, most notably, George Clooney and Oprah. It's the exact same principles that conservatives were supporting by electing Trump. It's moments like these that make me struggle to take liberals seriously when they respond with the exact same ideology but think it'll have a different outcome. I think the last few years have proven to us that celebrities are not fit for politics no matter what side they're on.
