The two were examples on how building your fans around younger audiences may benefit you in the short term but is actually hurtful when you stop having huge hits.

Katy career dwindled so much after one flopped album that she can't even debut inside the top 40 anymore with a huge comeback single and a big name producer.

Look at Taylors single stats of Reputation. LWYMMD was frontloaded as hell and every subsquent single did worse and worse besides the damage control single Delicate which smashed on AC and HAC radio. I don't see another million debut for her anymore in the future because of the extreme damage that Reputation left.

Taylor changed her musical style, even her whole persona for this era. Since it didn't work, they released Delicate, something that sounds like the old Taylor and the song was a big hit (it hit #1 on Pop radio aswell). That alone means the GP is used to a certain type of music released by her, and she is definitely coming back with the usual pop or country sound. She was being experimental and I applaud her for that. Also, the Reputation was the #1 album on the YEC and definitely a very good pop album, with the 2nd biggest female tour of all time,  so I dont understand where this "extreme damage" could come from? Wouldn't you think people wouldn't come to her stadium shows if the era caused her damage?

And as for her debuting with over 1M, the same thing was said before Reputation "no way she is doing 1M in 2017" and yet she almost had her best week ever. Do not underestimate the power of Taylor Swift.

Shallow is coming for huge iTunes WW total, it just entered the top 180. It's the only song in the Top 300 still gaining huge amount of points.

Gaga should follow Taylor Swift s strategy and go pop. A dance pop album from Gaga could be very well received! Public might be here for it

after the Oscars we should start an agressive campaign towards Gaga and her team!

Honestly, we need summer bops back in the charts, and I'm hoping Gaga will be the one to put them there.

Spoiler

I would love for Katy to serve summer bops as well, but the GP is not here for her. I don't know what she'll be able to do to get them back because her fans aren't enough for a big debut on any type of chart.
