I get what he's saying and I'm happy that he's trying to make a statement on it, but unfortunately he's wrong about there being roles few and far between for him BECAUSE he is white passing, even though he is a half-Asian man.

He's right though in saying that there ARE few roles for other Filipino people though.

It's nice to be able to say that he has that heritage and can play the roles that he plays, but it's still a bit of an isolated thing to say because I myself am an actor, also half-Filipino, but am not white passing, so his statement doesn't really do anything to help me or my other fellow actors who share his ethnicity because we don't share his appearance. 

I have mixed feelings on his apologetic tone on the whole thing because he really shouldn't apologize, but yes though, the first Filipino-American to win big like this IS a white-passing one of mixed ethnicity so it's really complicated.

I totally get his sentiment. Lots of us halfies who are white passing really had it easier. It is not just happen in showbiz, but also in regular work place.  

But many of us are also getting our own struggles, mainly because we are not pure of any ethicity or race, some people who knew would use that to bully us. Our parents had also been attacked and treated as race traitor.
